Can anyone advise on Hong Kong Internation T1 airport lounges please, there seem to be several to choose from and I'm confused. My husband and I are not experienced travellers and on Christmas Day will be travelling via Hong Kong International to visit our daughter in Australia. We have several hours to spend at HK both outbound and return and are wondering about the cheapest options - one off or Priority Pass has an offer on Groupon.

Any advice please, oh wise travel gurus?:A

What time do you arrive at HKG from the UK?

On the outbound when you arrive at 07.05 am you'll want a lounge with a possibility of some sleep, have a good read of https://www.sleepinginairports.net/asia/hongkong.htm for tips

  • We used My Lounge at Gatwick North recently after booking through here and getting it for £13.50pp.

For the price there is nothing I can say against it, the staff were friendly, the drinks were free flowing and the breakfast nibbles were good. The premium security line was an added bonus that we didn't think was included.

Its not the biggest lounge but we had seats and tables in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere and were able to chill out nicely before the flight, I would definitely recommend it and will use again.
  • Be aware at small airport if the lounge is past security and if you need to check luggage it. Knowing I would have about four hours at Inverness airport before my flight I booked their lounge recently. The problem is they don't let you check in your luggage until two hours before. So I had to wait for two hours first in the cafe, then check in and go through leaving only about an hour in the lounge in the end, barely worth it.

For a simple no frills lounge, the Aer Lingus one at Dublin is great. Free food and drink, quiet spaces, good WiFi and clean toilets. Much quieter than the busy lounge and gate areas, and the lounge is right next to the gates too.
  • hi, just tried Birmingham airport for 1st January we fly out to Dubai
    your code is not working
  • I signed up to Priority Pass in June 2016 for a 12 month period with 10 visits included for the annual fee. averaging £13 a visit which on the face of it appeared good value money

I travel mainly from London Stansted and Gatwick but have found the lounges full with a long waiting list at each airport. At Stansted the Escape Lounge has no pre- bookable facility for PP.members. At Gatwick the No1 Lounge, which PP uses, does have a pre-bookable facility for PP members at an additional £5 fee

MSE readers need to be aware that a pass probably won't gain them access unless it has a pre-bookable facility at the UK airports they are most likely to use
  • Not having much luck with the 33% discount code in this weeks newsletter. I need Gatwick North No1 lounge for 2 adults and 3 kids for next year. Any help in working out what I am doing wrong very much appreciated!

I've used the Plaza Premium lounge at Heathrow T2 & liked it.

In Dec 2016, this cost £32.

In Dec 2017, they want £40 and the best discount I can get is 10% at holiday Extras, so £36.

That's quite an inflation rate for 1 year, particularly for a lounge that seemed almost empty on previous visits. Any suggestions for a better discount ?
