  • The bit of John Lewis Direct that the customer deals with is all outsourced to a company called iForce, who run the online operations of many other big high street names. I've heard that the ultimate aim is to eventually take things in-house but that can't happen until some big changes in the supply chain happen.

Thank you very much for confirming my suspicions - looks like another sucess story for outsourcing !!

Unfortunately according to this, it won't be until 2012 that it can be brought in-house - http://www.iforcegroup.com/PRMEDIA/MEDIAFILES/20070901-PR-JLD_iForce%20AGREED%20press%20release.pdf

Why does a successful company like John Lewis get involved with companies like this?
  • Hi first time so sorry if its wrong. Been on to John Lewis site and its still says £79.00:confused:

You're too late. This sold out soon after being posted.
  • Hiya folks,

Not sure if this is good or bad for you guys, but I got a cheap basic Cookworks microwave from whatsgoingcheap.com for £12. It's great and does the job.

It was supposed to be B graded with a few scratches on it. What I received was a bashed box with a microwave with not a mark on it as far as I could see and trust me I scrutinised it. Quick delivery too.

Might help those who are still looking to keep an eye out there. I think it was free delivery for orders over £30 and it's easy enough to do that there and not on rubbish.

    Hope this helps.

Finally a result of this fiasco with my broken microwave!!
I got an email saying they are back in stock..so i called up JL CS and asked for my exchange....when cs operator finally found it she said about the £50 price difference so i reassured her i would not be paying it :) and that a supervisor had ok'd this last week..as product under 28 days old etc...

When she went to put it thru it charged me the £50 extra ,so she went and spoke to finance people and it has been charged back to my card!

    So..finally a positive outcome !

Welcome yellowbirdy. I have been looking at this offer too. It is priced at £79 now but was £29 a couple of weeks ago. My tip is to check the John Lewis website regularly to see when and if the microwave reduces back to £29. Alternatively I'm sure someone will post again on this site but sometimes that leaves it to late to get one.
    Hope this helps

This company is useless - after another broken promise of a call, I phoned them up tonight and they are still not offering much more than a refund, claiming that they're not going to get stock in until 12th December ............................. they haven't got a clue !!!

They've finally decided to replace mine with ones that they have now found in stock - odd when I was told that they wern't getting any more. My suggestion if you recieved a damaged one or one that died soon after delevery is to contact JL Direct and ask to speak to the Assist team.
