Yes you should be able to get free SIM's for the main 4 networks. or maybe 99p off ebay

    1. Put them in your phone and see how many signal bars you get (at work and home etc)
    2. Get someone to ring that new SIM and see if the call is clear without breakup

Customer service on EE is so bad I'd never risk using them again. I don't know how they keep any customers.

Personally, I think Vodafone are the "best" network -- good customer service, and good coverage. Virgin and O2 are pretty good too.

I'm on Three at the moment. Network coverage is non-existent in a lot of areas, and a few intermittent faults knocked out the signal for a day or two, which has never happened on other networks. But it was a cheap deal. (£6.50 a month for unlimited voice/texts and 4GB data.)

Your "opinion"... is it based on your personal experiences?
Have you been at least reading THIS board?
Should I call myself a mug, to be reading your post and take it as recommendation?

  • Coming from my own experience and what friends and family have said, I'd recommend Three or EE. I've had really bad experience with Vodafone in the past so definitely wouldn't recommend them.

I have Three and the 2 year contract is finishing so just called them to get my PAC. I am going with Vodafone £25 tariff sim only with 25GB data, unlimited calls and texts. It also includes 4gb data and calls/texts while roaming in Europe.

    Why moving to Vofafone?
    - Three has got unlimited internet but checking my usage the maximum i used was 17gb in a month. Their network coverage is poor compared with others. Inside my house, or at relatives on the other side of town, sometimes i get no signal. Also as soon i drive on the countryside i lose signal. Their feel at home product looks good on paper but on several occasions while in europe the internet is unusable.

    - Vodafone got my choice - partner is also with Vodafone - because it has better coverage in 4g/3g/2g. Data speeds are equivalent with Three and 25gb limit is more than enough. Also you get real included roaming in europe and internet access that you can actually use. There are many complaints about their costumer service, but in over a year (partners contract) we never had need to contact them. Most things can be sorted on their website without needing to talk to anyone.

From friends and relatives experiences, most phone networks have bad costumer services. BT (whom i had a recent brushing with) and even Virgin Media are the same. So i have no problem giving Vodafone a chance.

Vodafone isn't about the bundle or coverage; it's about the endless problems they create causing havoc with customers. The thought that anything could be sorted on their website is, quite frankly, completely laughable. For the most of the last year on my previous contracts it was impossible to log on to even see a bill - and that is the least of most peoples' problems. A year without problems won't make up for the year(s) of grief once they start, the hours of contact, endless broken promises, being lied to, hung up on and escalating issues as opposed to sorting them. Many a loyal customer of many years have quickly changed their opinion when the problems start. Only the WRT ever sorts a problem - and even then they can't always resolve all of them.
