I was not but then if I am getting the deal I want it does not really make a difference I suppose.
Anyway i rang them again today and the woman confirmed I cannot get out of my contract with an ETC so instead have negotiated my bill and package down so I am paying much cheaper between now and September. Then in September will have the option to walk away, stay or upgrade.
Thanks for everyones help0 -
Get the offer in writing as different CS people say different things and some do have different offers that they can make.0

I would have tought that you can get out of the contract by paying an early termination fee. That is common with most providers and cant understand why sky wont let you do that. They could charge you anything up to the total cost of mental rental until the end of the minimum contract. But in your case, in the worse case scenario, that would be very expensive.
Imagine that you were moving away from the country. There would have to be something they could do, most probably an early termination fee.
Just found something usefull:
Go on google and search for "sky early termination fee". All the information is there, black and white.0
