Canceling Sky Q

Wonder if anyone can give me any advice.
I currently pay £135 for my Sky Q TV, Fibre Broadbnd and Line Rental which runs until Sept 2017.
I rang sky last week as this was just too much a month and said I wanted to cancel. They tried to discount my bill but could only get it down to £72 a month which was still way too much, so I asked could I cancel. The chap said I could but would have to pay an early termination fee which I said fine as overall it would work out cheaper in the long run as I have seen a package with Now TV which is only £30 a month. So he went through all the charges and what I needed to do and said cal back once you decide.
So today I ring back to cancel everything and the woman said I cannot cancel my contract until the terms ends. I explained I need it to be at £30 a month and the best she could do was £46 a month on a basic package but a new 12 month contract. I advised this is too expensive and I was told before I could pay an early termination charge to cancel early. She advised only in exceptional terms can I cancel but would not give me what those were.
Can someone shed any light on whether I can cancel or not as with most things I have found you can cancel but a charge would be applied, so this is the 1st time I have heard there is no cancel option.
Thanks for help in advance

No I understand I cannot cancel without a charge. As said initially the 1st guy explained I could cancel but have to pay an early termination fee which I was fine with.
So today I was ringing back to cancel and pay that early termination but the woman told me I could not even have early termination and pay a fee which is a total different piece of advice to the 1st guy I spoke with0 -
Think you cannot do both , if they Change the price it's a new contract , otherwise you "buy out" the remainder of your contractEx forum ambassador

Okay thank You,
I am just really annoyed the 1st guy sounded like he knew what he was on about and explained it all fully.
The only thing that makes me doubt the 2nd woman was she said you can do an early termination in exceptional circumstances but would not tell me what they are. I think the reason for this is I said I could not afford the £135 a month and want to cancel as another provider can get me what I want for £30 a month. She then mentioned it is not a valid reason to cancel just to go to another provider for cheaper. So when I said it is initially because it is too expensive, she was not listening and almost fobbing me off as I think maybe she was being awkward as I said I could go to another cheaper provider0 -
If your out of contract you can cancel without a fee but if your in contract you pay the early termination fee.
As your still in contract then yes you would pay the fee.0 -
£135....wow. They either saw you coming but you have subscribed to every single add on channel they have (movies, sport, MUFC, Asian TV, !!!!!!, F1.....)
Can you not drop down to a lower package?
We pay £56 a month for Sky Q 2TB, 2 Mini Boxes, Box Sets, Movies, Phone (basic) and (ADSL) broadband.....so £135 seems very excessive.
Have Sky not just increased their prices and told people they have 30 days to cancel if they so wish?

OP would have 30 days to inform them he received the notification of the price rises. Maybe the OP got the notification on say the 20/02 which would give him the 30 days.0 -

Thank you for the replies but the one thing i am trying to find out is can I ask to leave my contract and take the early termination fee?. I understand I can haggle down and the difference if in or out of contract but 2 advisors have given me 2 different rules around my contract. One being I can exit and pay an early termination fee and the other saying I cannot exit early full stop even if I want to pay an early termination fee0 -
