My printer will only use 1 fake followed by 1 genuine, then 1 fake.  No idea why but if I try 2 fakes one after the other it just refuses to work.
Easier to feed than a cat but not an omnivore, then? Perhaps our mistake was to let ours try genuine ink, it always used to accept the T3sco ones but then it tried the real thing... I want the equivalent of the proverbial omnivorous goat.

It's using real ink now, but I'm not chucking the 'uneaten' cartridge out. I wonder if the seller would refund or at least give us tips why one 'fake' works but not the other?

Perhaps someone ought to treat printer manufacturers to whatever they did to @pple to get them to use ordinary charger cables. It's absolutely ridiculous how expensive it is.

Something like that could be exactly what we need. Was it in @rgos, do you remember?

Exhausting day. Having been up early and ordered the printer, I went to the building society and produced my passport, so now I have access to the app (and my money) again.

I've taken the last instalment for the Christmas Saver from the savings account that has a lower rate than the saver. That prevents me going overdrawn in the current account, and should give a bit of a buffer while not actually eating into savings at all.

We spent the middle part of the day looking after DGD and DH kindly took her to the park so I could have an hour of quiet time to finish prep for tonight's study.  I bought a couple of pizzas and lots of salad on the way home and Dh tidied up while I threw together dinner for me and my friends. DH treated himself to a ready meal (he can't eat what we were having) and says it's gone up 25p since he last bought it. Perhaps I need to do some batch cooking for evenings when he eats alone.

Our study session seemed to go well and I even manged to operate the new DVD player. We all had lots to eat but there's plenty left over so the pizza slices have been frozen individually to grab when I need something quick/portable. What I don't need is to eat my way through them in the next couple of days! Tomorrow's tea needs to involve salad... so does lunch, I guess. There is also mozzarella and pepperoni left over from the pizzas so I need to invent a use for them.

    Expenditure:
    Electronics £21.99
Housekeeping DH's spending at the greengrocer plus whatever he bought at the supermarket. Mine is £1 at the greengrocer (bargain large bag of tomatoes) and £9.94 at the supermarket.

    MS
Bargain tomatoes. Discovered I can get a pack of two frozen pizzas in L!dl for £2.89 which is cheaper than one mid-range one elsewhere, at least until I spend £1.05 on pepperoni to go on top of it  and 69p on mozzarella I didn't use!
Also a very reasonable price to replace the DVD player.

I made a coronation chickpea mixture as a side and it occurs to me I could pre-plan any 'fancy' salad items and pay a lot less by making them from scratch. Flavoured couscous works quite well and I've also done pesto pasta for a fraction of the shop price. When I think about it, when did I last make a Waldorf Salad, and they are so nice!

There was a big clatter just now and the shower curtain rail has collapsed. It looks as though one end has cracked. It could be another expense coming up, we'll see.

I'm not good with Wednesdays at present. Too quiet and too many things I ought to be doing, especially as it's DH's birthday tomorrow and there are a few things to get ready.

So here I am, about to write a list. The secateur cut from the other day has just about healed up, so I can type normally again instead of with a fat finger!

I had an email from my manager late yesterday asking where we are up to with redeployment so I pinged one back to say I'd asked about the procedure and was waiting to hear back. Now this is my spare email, and I'd been using it for work stuff so as not to miss anything. There were six unread emails there, and they were reminders from apps. Nothing new in a few days, yet when I sent the reply, suddenly there were nine emails and among them I found a detailed reply from HR, sent last Thursday. I can't come up with any explanation that hangs together, apart from that it just hadn't been visible amongst the other posts in that thread (this organisation couldn't trim an email if you handed them a guillotine).

I emailed again with apologies for missing it, and have said I'll have a look today, which I'm not wanting to do but it needs to be underway.

This morning I've given myself a hair mask as my hair was getting very flyaway. I've got the shower curtain rail back up and washed the curtain (Internet suggestions for getting mould marks off polyester came to nothing but at least it's mostly clean :( ). Deciding I didn't have much time over the next few days I've put one load in the machine and one in the sink, and done an extra spin cycle because it's not really warm enough to dry things by tonight otherwise (it's that time of year again).

Things I could still get done: That Form from work. Go to the market. Get a big storage bag to keep all my summer tee shirts together in the loft. Perhaps get liquid soap dispensers filled again? I reuse the pump containers as the pumps won't recycle and I' having a small debate about whether to encourage local trade by using the eco shop or save money by getting a big cheap bubblebath or shampoo and refilling with that. Whichever I do will last quite a while so it also helps if I like the one I choose.

@Cherryfudge The email program maybe collating by thread instead of by date - have a look in the settings 😉

No and I can't find it now. If you look for pole saws though it was similar

You're right! I'd just assumed that was the only way to use that email but having looked, I've been able to set ot to most recent at the top, which is what I'm used to.

    Thanks, I will have a look. :)

I got quite a lot of my list done - including That Form From Work. I had an email back wishing me well, so the deed is more or less done. :'( Apart, of course, from the formal meeting to kick me out or launch my redeployment, whichever way you choose to think of it. And what should happen this evening but I bump into someone I used to support at work, in the supermarket with a couple of staff. He made some comment about me not being at work and I had to fudge it and joke about going to wave at them through the windows, as I feel I need to tell people officially rather than leak the information.

Chatting to this guy seemed so normal that I keep questioning my decision to go, and having to remind myself it's not just about supporting people, it's the way the whole thing is managed and the pressures of that, and the fact most of my friends have left already.

All the washing got dried and some errands have been run. I bought a big zip-able bag to store summer clothes but it's getting too heavy at half full, so that wasn't my best idea. I got DGD a painting apron for when she wants to play with water: the idea is that I draw her beloved Minnie Mouse on it to persuade her to wear it. I also treated myself to a bag of those tiny craft clothes pegs, which I've wanted for ages. I can make a feature of them to revamp the kitchen corkboard, which is more holey than righteous. There was a bit of food shopping too, including snacks as part of DH's birthday present, which I wrapped while he was out this evening (a leaving do).

The soap dispensers remain down to the dregs, but I found a spare in store so no hurry. Various bits of tidying up have happened, and I took unwanted makeup down to the recycling bin at Tesco, only to read that it doesn't take glass so only one item actually went in.

    Expenditure:
    Gift £3 + 5.70
    Hobby £2
    Household £1.99
    Housekeeping £14.28

    MS:
Half price peaches, loyalty card discount on my cappuccinos, zip-up bag turned out to be half the price I thought.

    Not MS:
Buying craft pegs for fun (I suppose I could think of them as therapy?), pulling the plug on my job (but it's not a bath that holds water, IYSWIM).
