I feel almost as though I'm on track to be ready for Christmas. :D

Church this morning then dinner with DH, DS2, A, H and J. I got talking to H afterwards and lost track of time, then something DH said made me leap up shouting 'Two thirty! It's three o'clock already!' I had forgotten I'm being keyholder while work is shut and I was supposed to collect the key. I ran all the way to work. :rotfl: Thankfully my colleagues had been slightly held up anyway and weren't too upset, but I am rather ashamed of myself. :o We faffed around locking and unlocking the door till we were fairly sure we could get in again but wouldn't get broken into, then I went home to wrap presents with DH.

At teatime I had offered to help with refreshments at the Carols by Candlelight, and enjoyed myself. DH, J and DFiL were there too - an added bonus as J doesn't usually come to church and DFiL might not have been well enough but I know it must have meant something to him, for him to have made such an effort. Afterwards I was given 10 spare mince pies, which was nice as we'd decided not to buy any but I do like them.

Back home to wrap a few more gifts, and I decided to recycle some Christmas gift bags I'd had hanging round in my room. While looking for just one more I came across a bag I'd forgotten, but it turned out to have things in it. Some years ago I'd set aside some unwanted gifts to pass on but they'd never got out of the house, and one of them turned out to be a gift set of what is now one of my favourite 'smellies'. So that was a second very nice freebie.

I've said 'happy Christmas' to A and H as they are off to her parents for Christmas starting early tomorrow. J and L will be coming to us when they've gone, so it will still be a full house. A and H have promised a Christmas day FaceTime. :)

    Spending:
    Donation £10.00
    MS:
    Free mince pies
    Unexpected gift set
Found some packets of seeds in the gift bag - probably beyond use but I'll try them anyway.
    Decluttering:
    Rehomed gift bags
Threw out scrap paper found in with 'new' toiletries.

Thank you for the good wishes, everyone! We had a really lovely Christmas, and DFiL was well enough to spend the day with us.

For some reason it was an NSD. :)

Today was relaxing: a lie in, dinner made of lots of leftovers (it will be similar tomorrow, which is just as well as we spent quite a lot on Christmas food and also have some that J and L brought), DH and I went for a walk in the sunshine this afternoon then had a free trip to the cinema courtesy of A and H. Even the parking was free!

This evening, however, I have to admit I've been surfing the sales: a couple of small gifts for people with whom we've not yet exchanged presents, a knife sharpening steel for me as the one we found here when we moved in is ruining our knives, a small dehumidifier for DS2's room and an e-book for me. There's also a collection of things that need to be returned as they don't fit or, in one case, don't work properly.

I think I'm going to need a separate, and probably highly amended, post for sundry amounts spent just before Christmas. I know it was a lot but I think I have all the receipts now, and I'm not dog-tired as I was over the last few days.

    Today's spending:
    e-book £0.99
    Gifts £12.31
    Household £32.99
    MS:
    Wombled 5p
    Dinner and tea from stores.
Gift of cinema vouchers from A&H.
    Free parking.
