Not a lot got done, Christmas-wise, as I had a disturbed night. Every now and then I get a reaction after eating certain carbs and last night was one of those, so I had very little sleep, then mooched around not getting a lot done till it was time for work.
Work was one of those shifts you couldn't make up, and not in a generally positive way, though we did a bit of mutual back-slapping at having got everyone through with no dire consequences. I did have to stay an hour extra to write things up, though, so there's a little more money in my pay packet at the end of the month.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks for the good wishes
. I had a much quieter day at work and managed a miniscule bit of Christmas shopping beforehand - just a couple of beers for the DSes' stockings. I never realised Father Christmas brings beer, but apparently he does - but only to over 18s.
I found a gift I'd bought either A or H ages ago so that will be wrapped and added to their stash. Not going to add it to the cost of this year's presents as it's been accounted for at some point.
I had a mad idea that I'd go to the supermarket after work (abbout 10pm) to get some of the food shopping when it wasn't crowded, but had a text towards the end of work to say DFiL was unable to stand. A had been round and given him initial help, then DH stayed with him and called 111. DH's phone was running low so I took a charger round and stayed with them but of course with it being black-eye Friday we had quite a wait till there was a paramedic available, so we helped DFiL get to bed. The paramedic arrived at midnight: she was lovely and very thorough and has recommended DFiL has a review with his consultant as he hasn't been seen in about a year. She was very happy with his general condition and before she left he was able to walk a short distance, so we tucked him up for the night and the carer has instructions to call for an ambulance if his symptoms return in the morning.
So it's been another late night (and no extra shopping done but I'm sure I can go tomorrow) and I'm off to bed. I did manage to wrap DD's main present, though, so a little progress has been made towards Christmas!
Note to self: as time goes on and I really know the Christmas routine so there isn't much danger I'll forget the turkey or accidentally go to work instead of having the day off, I mustn't think I can get away with the same amount of preparation time. The fact is, there are limits on what I can physically do and if I start earlier, it's easier as Christmas approaches.
Spending:
Gifts £4.70
MS:
3 lovely £2 coins to add to the jar and a stray 50p from my pocket to go in the 10th coin savings. I have about £95 since I started this savings scheme, which I'm quite pleased with but of course am wondering if it will get to £100 by the end of the year.
Decluttering:
None.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

DFiL is indeed much better thanks.
DH got called out about breakfast time (he was up already, I've never known him sleep late) but only because the carer couldn't get in and that was probably my fault because DFiL has asked me to put his door-opening gadget on a bedside chair and it turned out he couldn't reach it to let them in.
I have decided my hair needs cutting. It doesn't seem long since I last did it but it's tangling a lot and when I checked, the ends are all different lengths - and as I cut it straight across the ends, I don't think even a poor cut by me would achieve that. So there's a job for what's left of this morning.
I have finally started on a list for the non-Christmas-Day menu. Soup features large...
I'm at work later so no real list for today. I'll see what I can make of it and hope to come back with something achieved.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today (yesterday) was generally positive thanks - though I should have been in bed long ago!
I gave myself a haircut, so that's done and dusted.
Our Saturday fish and chips have gone up by 40p, so it's now £6.20 for one portion between us and DH has suggested we don't have them every week any more, which is fine by me. It's the most expensive ordinary meal we get as far as I can tell (though DH buys salmon so that's not cheap either).
I did a raid on Mr T and got loads of bits and pieces, both pressies and food before work. It all came to just under £40 and I know there is still food to get but DH got Sunday dinner and a turkey crown so that will account for more expenditure. My spending was all paid for together so I've put it on my CC and will have to sort it all out later.
There's still a very big internet shopping bill I need to account for from about a week ago, by the way. I remember the 'gifts' part of my spending was something like £123! Eek.
Work - the last till next Thursday - went well apart from being tired. I managed to smuggle my Secret Santa gift in past the person it's intended for, I hope he didn't notice!
I've wrapped a few more gifts this evening, it always seems to take disproportionately long.
Spending:
Receipt has gone walkabout - approx. £39, divided between gifts and food.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I think you've more than earned them.I'm keyholder as I live near my work and won't be away between now and reopening (and am on the first shift back) but we aren't on call, which is fab.
Hope you have a good shift and there's a holiday feel to it.Merry Christmas!
