Ha ha, not quite but as a veteran of waking night work I do relate to it! :D (Go to work one day, come home the next, go to sleep, wake up the same day and go back to work. A very strange thing to which to adapt).

It was only a sleep-in shift, which I used to do regularly but haven't done for some time - but a new colleague was rota'ed on and it was realised she wasn't trained in something. I offered as it was easy for me to take on and I want to get back to doing that kind of shift.

It turned out to be a very soft launch to a busy weekend, but that's another story. Since I got back this evening I've been trying to work out just where we are financially and the good news is we're solvent. I didn't really think otherwise but it's good to know we still have a financial 'cushion' even if I pay the CC gifts bills all in one fell swoop. As it was I'm picking through them trying to work out exactly which two or three I paid off in one go - no combination seems to add up at the moment and I need to get to bed. However I've paid another chunk off and made copious notes.

I think that American financial guru (Dave?) is wise when he says we don't need credit cards. If I'd paid in cash I wouldn't be sitting up now trying to make sure it all goes out of the right places. Or would I? The difficulty with cash is when you have the right money in your purse but in the wrong compartment...

Off to bed. Sleep won't wait and this will.

Thank you all for the good wishes. :) Here we are, nearly a new year... I hope there are good things in store for one and all.

This weekend has been no-spends except I lent DS2 £3 so he could give his friend change, thus getting back £20 he'd lent. I don't really count that as a spend but it is if I don't get it back. :D

I have worked out that if I extract the housekeeping payments from the CC bill and pay them off the correct account, all I have to do to get the payments right is to pay the rest from the other account. I wanted to pay a bit more off the mortgage but DH is wary as he wants to build up savings again and I guess he's right. I have made a small overpayment this month anyway as the DD is set higher than the minimum due, so we're still on track.

I've worked out that between my £2 coin jar and my 10th coin savings - both of which I started some time this year - I have £97.36 (that's if you count the £3 DS2 currently has from it). Only £2.64 to find to bring it to £100 so I might round it up. :) I'm not quite sure where it's going though. Two options so far:
    1) Premium bonds
    2) Higher rate savings.

Anyway, it's bedtime so I won't do any more with it tonight.
