Was your deposit registered with the deposit people ? I gave my money to the guy that moved out
Do you have a copy of the deposit certificate ? I have some bits will check tonight
Contact them and dispute everything.
OK has to prove all the damage. Was the flat freshly painted before you moved in ? No
Did you smoke in the flat ?

Why did you give your deposit to the outgoing tenant rather than the landlord or letting agent? As it stands you never gave a deposit to the landlord therefore there was no deposit to protect. Equally there's no deposit to be returned to you from either the landlord or letting agent. If you want your money back you'll need to pursue whoever it is you gave the money to.0

It's obvious that they "won't remember the conversation", isn't it?
If you have nothing in writing you're stuck.0 -
To be clear, you started a 24 month AST (I'm assuming you're in England or Wales) in February 2015 (an exact date would help) and moved out 5/6 months later in July 2015 (again an exact date would help).
How was your tenancy ended? Did you invoke a break clause or agree a mutual surrender with the landlord? How did you come to move out 5 months into a 24 month tenancy? Estate agents allowed it. Was that instigated by you or the landlord?
Unless you lived like a complete and utter slob I cannot see how you caused so much damage in a 5/6 month period. However, depending on how/why the tenancy ended earlier you may well owe a significant amount of rent.
Ended as Landlord wanted to move back in. I think he may have moved in before the checks were carried out as they could not do it on the Monday due to having no keys, so he got a locksmith and went in prior to the checks.
He has also contacted me and other tennant priavately through whatsapp , wanted it sorted yesterday I said need to speak to Estate agents regarding locks. He said by Wednesday morning. Im not ging to rush it will take more time if neccessary.0 -

Yes he was the best friend of my new housemate but unfortunately he passed away, theres no way im going to persue his family. Surely I just take his role on the tenancy.0 -
Does anyone think I should go to Citezens advice maybe, I really want to get some legal information.
Thanks0 -
What other tenant? Was it a joint tenancy, or separate AST's? Did you move in together, or replace one of two(or more) people who'd already been living there? Was there an inventory done when you moved in? Who's still in there at the moment?0

OP stop posting nonsense.
There is no 'surely'. You either have a tenancy agreement or you don't. So let's starts from scratch - who did you pay rent to?
You don't have a deposit as such, unless your signed tenancy agreement says so.0
