Serious Nagging From DWFs

I think nagging martin is a bad idea (it makes him grumpy
) I also think splitting the board is a bad idea. The diaries are what brings lots of people to this board, and as Z said last night we're likely to end up with newbies posting questions on the diary board because fewer of the seasoned DFWs are here.
It may be best if we did split the board. It would end the argument once and for all."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Moving it back may not neccesarily solve any problems that arise. In the words of that old saying: You can't unscramble eggs..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I think it would be really sad to have a sub board - newbies will feel that they are even more cliquey.
The only way for us to be truly accessible is for us to be on the main board - a sub board will create a them and us and I worry that newbies will feel afraid to post on established diaries.
On the other hand, they may do that simply as the only way to get an answer."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I like the diaries where they are. When I was a newbie it was the diaries that inspired me to post.I felt better when I knew that I wasnt alone and others had been and were in my position. Also as someone said last night when does a request for help become a diary , what happens then.I initially asked for help with my OH spending habits and my thread has now become my diary, you dont always decide to start a diary sometimes it just happens.Leave it as it is.0

Anyone got any ideas how we can make it easier within the current structures.
Maybe Deliberate locked stickies - which act as a directory a bit like in Old Style. More thoughts please
The problem with DFW is that it is rather more dynamic in it's problems: Indexes will be useful - but not *as* useful. You could try expanding SS's sticky - it's a waste of a slot considering there's only one useful post in it. Perhaps add the indexes in there and also add those generic (but frequently demanded) "Bog off - that debt is over 6 years old/nothing to do with me (delete as applicable)" letters. Also add various things like OFT guidelines on DCAs are supposed to behave, so people can be directed to them with no confusion.
A kind of FAQ sticky if you will - but keep SS's friendly introduction as the top post."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I agree with TigTag, I can't see that it's a major problem, I think the mixture of established diaries and quick queries works well - with any forum, new people need to find their feet and the diaries give a good feel of the 'community spirit' on here. And if your question's gone for (say) a day with no replies you can always bump it up, I've never seen anyone object to that - and indeed others are good at picking up on unanswered posts and giving them a little nudge. I also agree with whoever said (sorry few pages back!) that the diaries are a great inspiration for newbies, and they may not venture in to an exclusive forum.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

To be honest I think the opinions in here are a little biased (sorry!) - like those that have diaries don't want them moving.
I don't have a diary, and I think moving them would be a bad idea. OTOH, I think we should move them to finally prove it's a bad idea.

oh and i dont think i ignore newbies (look for my thanks) its just i belive that if i ahve nothing important or relevent to say then i will leave it to the experienced... also i am very young so not very 'clued up' but i am learning :T :T :T
