Here's why I don't think immigration will fall following Brexit

Once our Politicians have FULL and complete border policy control, we know exactly who to hold accountable, so no more passing the buck to the EU
If the people dislike the way their political servants run immigration then we can demand action / vote them out of office.
How will we cope with this independence eh Hamish, surely the sky will tumble down on our sweet little heads lol.0 -

50% of migrants arrive from outside the EU and we won't know who to 'blame' until the government have full control of EU migration too? Why's that?0 -
After Brexit it's the government's call as to who and how many and from where come to the UK.
Many of the jobs we talk about needing to be filled are manual low skill jobs like farm workers.
You can find cheap labour from anywhere across the world. Qatar did not have the labour resources to build the world cup stadii. Did this phase them? Not a bit. They brought in labour.
If this is MSE, we should be campaigning to pay less for our cheap labour. If I can pay a pound an hour for a cheap cleaner then I will have 2 thanks.0 -
So basically all the people who voted for Brexit because of the main claims made by the leave campaign....
1) Immigration will significantly reduce
2) The NHS will get more funding
.... are now running around saying they didn't believe those claims anyway?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

In regards to immigration and voting leave. I voted leave to maintain the mechanism to allow the UK to put a cap on it.
The fact that they have not contained it up to this point is moot. The important thing is to have the ability, with the political will they can make changes to reduce numbers if need be.
For me, the UK (like any other country), has to be run like a business and an open door policy is akin to leaving a tap running and then wondering why the water bill is so high and there is a flood. Simply put it is irresponsible.
It is important to say (as it seems to be convienently missed by so many), from what I can see most people want controlled imigration NOT no immigration.0 -

I think it's fair to say to say voters on both sides mostly made a judgement based on their own reasons and instincts rather than the official lines.
You didn't think there was going to be an 'emergency budget' did you?“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

1) The Leave campaign said take back control of immigration. We the people going forwards will know who to blame if we aren't happy with immigration outcomes. WIN.
2) Who says the NHS wont get more funding ONCE the daily £25 million club fee ends?0 -

It will be more in the public consciousness that once independent the buck stops with Govt. EU membership makes the picture confused for the average citizen not very interested in politics.
Autonomy and accountability will become embedded in the public narrative once we are fully independent.
The battle to curb immigration numbers is far from over.
Control over immigration is but ONE of several key reasons for supporting Brexit0 -

So many people assume leavers voted the way they did simply because Boris rode into town on his battle bus and before then they had never concieved such an idea, so many can't comprehend, some people have wanted out for decades and some never wanted in, in the first place.0 -
