Morning. Missed yesterday. Very productive - not NSD as living in hotel room, but frugal.
First ever 5k park run. But their technology broke so no official time. Grrr. It was VERY muddy and I have a brand new pair of trainers covered in mud.
Alumni dinner last night was great. Met up with lots of old friends, and I got into my 18th birthday outfit easily. Very joyful.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
I forgot to add my NSD yesterday. Yesterday ended up being quite a lazy day (although I had planned to do lots of things) so they must get done today. On the plus side, I didn't leave the house so it was a NSD for me. I'm now at 2/15.
I'm grateful for the fact that the other half has tidied up (a little) this morning. Less for me to do!February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Afternoon all,
Well I've had some sleep and got up, and dragged my sorry !!! to the gym AT LAST after weeks of not going. Took every ounce of willpower to get myself there lol - hopefully now it won't be so hard to get back into it.
Today I am grateful for:- For Mothernerd's kind words to us all. Thank you
- Being a 'good parent' to myself, and looking after myself a bit better
- The rest of today to chill out
I agree with Crazy_cat_lady... Mothernerd - you still win the craftiest woman award haha!!! Your Mum sounds pretty awesome too. Reading that took me back to when I was little, making stuff in the kitchen with Mum. Alas - none of her culinary skills seem to have rubbed off haha!!!
Catch you later folks!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Afternoon all,
A quick post before I head off to my mums for the evening. My neighbour very kindly woke me up this morning, not sure which part of “Your sound system is on a shared wall and I can hear it in my flat even over my telly” he doesn’t quite understand. Can’t wait until I’m debt free and I can move into a place where at least one half of my house is not surrounded by anything else.
Had a busy day, got up and went for groceries. Came home, quick shower then back out. Hit the butchers and picked up a book from the library. Stupidly forgot to take my other one back so will need to do that sometime this week. Back home, lasagna made (in the oven rather than slow cooker). 3 portions for the freezer. Had bought myself a new tin but it was a bit small, with my old one I got 4 portions out of it. Still can’t master the art of getting lasagna out the tin neatly. Always looks a mess but hey as long as it tastes good.
Have marinated some chicken and popped it in the fridge so I can use my George Foreman grill tomorrow. Think I might have overdone the herbs so feeling a bit fearful of how it will turn out!
Also diced some chicken so I can make a slow cooker curry tomorrow. Going to cheat and use a jar, not very MSE I know but hey ho.
The majority of my shopping was done on my debit card so I’ve updated my spreadsheet with my spends.
Journeyed to the butchers/library on the bus so took the opportunity to read my book then.VSPC 2019 #10 - £168.80/£100 VSPC 2020 #4 - £262.03/£200 VSPC 2021 #9 - £242.88/£200 VSPC 2022 #3 - £188.03/£200 VSPC 2023 #7 - £0/£2000 -
Hi all
Need baby wipes but I used my boots points. All wiped out now but I am happy with that. Also bumped into an old friend and end up going for coffee and she paid so 4 NSD for me. This is the first time I have gone through until Monday without major spending. Usually I am anxiously waiting for my next payment to come and now I dont have to worry. No Spend November 2/15 and SPC 1340 -

That was one of my '15 minute bursts' (probably slightly over). If I can get to doing 15 minutes in every hour, I'll have everything sorted.
Thanks for the kind words on skills - as I say, a lot of it is down to having no money whatsoever and desperately trying to keep a (non-leaking) roof over my children's head - they threatened to report me to grandma (because she is your mummy and will tell you off) when I papered their bedroom ceiling for the first time. They had never heard me swear.
Sorry for the delay. I was awake and had the laptop fired up at 9am, then was woken by the low battery signal beeping.
Day 5
Use it or lose it
Still on skills. Have you any that make you (extra) money? Or that have saved you money? Or just help you through life (write down all your positive qualities.
We all know our teachers do tutoring and sign up for exam marking/ invigilating. I am envious of those of you who power through the surveys - I never had a payout from one apart from the 'nectar tv' (demised). I suppose I should be glad that so much of the 'consumer' world passes me by - never had a car, no tv and rarely see adverts.
Going to put in one of mine now . I did a business course when DS3 was a baby and did two years of CIMA (accountancy). I've also run small businesses/ charities (including limited companies) and done welfare rights (not current). This included basic knowledge of contract law and the ability to wade through mountains of legal/ government verbiage and work out what it actually means.
So although no-one has ever been persuaded to employ me for any of those skills (as in pay me money, lots done voluntarily), they have helped over the years. The moment in a complaint conversation when some call centre drone working from a script who has told you 'the government/ law won't let us do that' changes when they realise that you have a working knowledge/ can quote from relevant law. So satisfying.
I think I am persistent (slow and steady but keep going) or maybe too stupid to give up.
Day 5 Wellbeing
Declutter your bedroom or desk.
Sorry, it's not my list and it is optional. Maybe just do your bedside table/ next to the chair you regularly use. Or take five minutes out to clear your head. I was going to clean the kitchen (honest) but the bedroom needs work (It's clean but there is just far too much in here - 2 bed house means every room is multi-purpose. This was meant to be my study/ sewing room but then I had children.).
Inspiration
Your children won't remember that you ironed their pyjamas, they will remember the time you spent playing with them.
(Shirley Conran - 'Down with' Superwoman).
Applies to those without children - think about what's important (what matters to you) and weed out/ automate the rest (that's from a TED talk)My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Decluttering. I finally lugged 4 bags of clothes to the garage today. They were all well worn and some of them I clung onto for some time.No Spend November 2/15 and SPC 1340

Today I am grateful for being able to stay out of the rain; for hot drinks; for time with dd; for getting plenty of cooking done (sweet potato + ginger + coconut soup; savoury flapjacks; 'oreos' for dd); for being competent enough to adapt a recipe if I don't have the exact ingredients; for hot water for washing up; for playing games with dd; for my legs hurting slightly less than yesterday; for dd's cold being much less severe; for plenty of veg to add interest to meals.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

I will declutter my bedside table/windowsill (which is currently acting as a dressing table).
Today has been a spendy day (trip to Asda to get supplies for the week). So still at 2/15 for NSD. I have had a very productive day though - made some potato and leek soup with bendy leeks in the fridge and chicken stock from last week) and a roast dinner.
Having leftover roast pork and leftover stuffing for my lunch tomorrow in a sandwich. I do like knowing things aren't going to waste.
I'm grateful for the time to do stuff today. I'm also grateful for the bottle of wine Tom opened that he's been stashing away. Its delicious!February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00
