Ring MHM or Samaritans, you have the numbers.

Are your mum and brother still arguing?

    Well, that's good.

So it's not the atmosphere in the house that's causing you anxiety but your inner feelings.
Could you go out for a walk to get some fresh air?

Hi, I hope your course goes well. Pity about the stress levels at home. This sounds like a male versus female issue to me. Guys' ways of helping tend to be focused around practical, physical help, e.g. paying board, keeping the house clean and tidy, maybe going out to do some shopping for the house.

With women though, while they may well appreciate that kind of help, what they may need instead is emotional support, someone to sit down and listen to their problems and empathise with them, even though, practically, the source of those problems, e.g. living in a five person household as a single parent, isn't solvable.
