SE K810i/ K800i Nokia 6300/ N73 Opinions Please!

Just looking for peoples opinions on the following phones please:

SE K810i
SE K800i

Nokia 6300
Nokia N73

Blackberry Pearl 8100

I am used to SE phones, but am happy to look at others to get a better deal (on any network other than O2). I'm happy to research the tariffs, but need to narrow down my choice of phones first!

Thanks for any advice and opinions! x

  • The K810i seems to just be a cosmetically-tweaked version of the K800i, but as it's new, it's quite a lot more expensive. The N73 looks OK, but the camera ruins the photos it takes by over-compressing them. Ditto the N80. I've not looked into the 8100 or the 6300.

I've currently got a K800i on order from my current telco, after using my Nokia 6210 for the last 5.5 years!

Thanks cowbutt, I do like my SE's!

You've eliminated the N73 and N80 for me, so now it is down to one of the SE's, or the 6300.

The 8100 is a bit of a stab in the dark to be honest, just thought it looks like a nice simple handset.

My last phone broke, so I am currently using an old Siemens A60, and I love it! x

I'd advise that you steer clear of any Nokia 'N-series' phones.

They have irritating, slow, bug filled, crash prone operating systems - any Nokia with Series 60 software is the same.

Series 40 is another matter - smooth, consistent and a pleasure to use...... and used in the 6300. That'd be my choice :-)

    So we're left with:

    SE K810i or K800i

    Nokia 6300 or Prism

(Am wondering if the Prism is too new, and therefore liable to glitches?!)

    1 vote for the K800i
    1 vote for the 6300

I have just changed from the SE K800i to the K810i, although it is much the same phone I do prefer the K810i. It is a touch lighter and thinner.
Hark at you going all strict :D

  • Have you looked at the rather-underpublicised (no idea why) Nokia 6120 which is free on all T-mobile Flext tariffs? Probably the world's smallest smartphone - it's Series 60 (I call it an N95-lite) and it is perfectly usable as a normal phone too. Takes microSD, has mini USB (so pretty standard) and 2mp camera with flash. It's also 3G unlike the 6300 - so has a second camera for video calling, and has HSPDA for mobile-web that's quicker than my home broadband! It has a radio too.

I've had one for a few weeks now and it's great, no crashes or bugs have come to light! Screen wise it's QVGA (320x240) 16million colour display. Has a good browser (though can run Opera too), RealPlayer, as well as viewers for MS Office docs and Acrobat. Runs Nokia Maps (pair that up to a bluetooth GPS and you've got satnav).

Available at the moment on T-mobile and Three.
