Options for internet access with no bt line ?

Options
I have just cancelled my virgin media package as they out the price up by £9 a month from £31 to £40

Are there any options for me to get broadband - quite high usage due to kids doing online gaming - if I don't have a BT phone line ?

Depends how deep your pockets are if the usage really is high - certainly likely to exceed £40.

There is a good change VM will actually call you and offer a discount now you've cancelled. but it always pays to decide what the alternatives are before cancelling anything.
  • There are a few providers that operate their own infrastructure separate from BT or VM, but operate only in very restricted areas. There is mobile data, but you won't get "unlimited" or anything suitable for high usage.

Or you could get a BT line (don't have to get it from BT) and have a choice of loads of ISPs.

  • Sounds like you should have haggled with Virgin. You didn't tell them you don't have a BT phone line did you?

I'm just switching to BT. Their cost is £40 a month, including line rental. But I am also getting a TV recorder box, worth around £100 on ebay if you don't want it. £150 Quidco and a £100 reward card. So, it's a good deal for the first year.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Thanks for the replies

I've been with virgin since they wee diamond cable and got sick of constant price increases and no loyalty so told them to stick it

Maybe I was a little rash . I might have to phone them back by the sound so of it then

You have 30 days to phone them back.

Just wait a week or so, see if they phone you

Telecoms providers don't 'do' loyalty. You have to haggle each year (or end of minimum term if it's longer) or you'll just end up paying more and more.

Like pretty much every other industry.
  • Hi everyone, I have a problem with virgin, I been with them for 14ys now, I move out here in 10days and so i rang them to transfer to my new address, but the last tenant didn't pay her bill and so they are refusing to transfer me.

They asked me to send copies of passport/drivers licence and utility bill which I did although they are saying they didn't get the utility but it was on the same upload I sent them.

I did fill an application form with sky and they said that there is an active phone line in there.

Moving house is so stressful without this.

I don't know what to do next.

Any help as I don't know what to do next to be honest.

    regards

    khriss

I'm sure someone will want to know if you are in your minimum term contract still?

or have you done a price deal in the last 12 months ?
