Plusnet searched my credit file 8 times on one day when I purchased a £5pm contract

Does it matter than when I purchased a £5pm 30 day rolling contract from plusnet (a second one, I already had one with them) they did 8 credit checks on the same day according to Experian?

Can I do anything to have the extra searches removed?

Edit: I am kind of suspicious, I telephoned plusnet CS to get the second line and was told that not only would I have to undergo a credit search as a new customer but also that I would not get the quidco/tcb bonus that I would get by buying online so I said I would buy online instead. I suspect the agent may have been p'eed at not making the sale (and commission) and have put through the multiple searches to spite me. I assume it is not free for plusnet to perform the searches.
I think....

Multiple searches by the same company on the same day won't be an issue for you.

So could this be interpreted by a lender that the OP applied for eight different proper credit products on that one day? In other words, what precisely do prospective lenders see about a search?

scores mean nothing, you could have a score of 999999 and have 4 CCJs and previous bankruptcy, it is a history that is important, i.e Pay day loans, alot of debt e.t.c.

Lenders don't use other's scoring systems, they have their own criteria. Experian don't lend you money do they? so the score doesn't matter but the history for example.

If it's hard searches then yes you should be able to get them removed. Contact Experian first and also write to Plusnet's credit reporting department and ask them to remove the excessive searches (in case Experian refer you back to them).

OP best you can do is speak to Plusnet and see if they can do something about those searches if at all they can, if your really worried about the quantity of them

I suspect you've massively underestimated the indifference of the average call centre employee.
