Plusnet searched my credit file 8 times on one day when I purchased a £5pm contract

I dont see any issue here. A lender is not going to view this as multiple searches.0

You need to dispute the extea searches with the CRA, they will remove multiple ones of the same type that are hard seaches. Identity checks or admin reviews are soft searches.0

What are you basing this on? I'm pretty sure a lender can't see who made the previous searches, so for all they know you applied for 8 credit cards in a day.
I have had a similar issue with a car dealer before and that is what I was told. I also just had a quick Google.
Quoted from an experian representative in reply to a similar situation:If the drop in your score was in fact due to the loan application, it should have had the same impact, whether there were eight inquiries or just one
Quoted from Equifax website:Additionally, multiple searches in the same day by the same company are often viewed as a single search0 -
Additionally, multiple searches in the same day by the same company are often viewed as a single search
This implies that searchers can see the identity of previous searchers. The problem we have here - generally regarding this board - is that no one really knows about this stuff. The Experian reps tend to be ambiguous on these matters, and I have yet to see a hard-and-fast example of precisely what a merchant sees when he does a credit check.0 -

I read somewhere quite a while back something a long the lines of this:
"The experian algorithm will identify multiple searches by the same lender and present this as a single search"
I have looked and can't find where I read this. I agree there is no definitive answer as even the staement I quoted from Equifax says "are often viewed as a single seach" which implies this does not apply in all cases.0 -

Thanks all for input.
I was on a while with the cs agent asking if he could match other deals etc. In the end he said he could only do what was on the website then said even as an existing customer I would still be credit searched if I applied through him and he couldn't match the quidco/tcb so I said thanks for his help but I would apply online and I got the impression he was a bit annoyed about the 5 mins on the call not leading to any sales commission.I think....0
