Technically you need to buy a license to play "DVD/Blu-Ray" content from "MPEG-LA".

That's usually covered in the price you pay for a stand alone DVD.Blu-Ray player.

But with PC's the license is usually in the cost of the software player.

Software like VLC get around this fee by using Open Source DVD/Blu-Ray decryption software instead of the officially licensed versions.

so stick with VLC and you won't go wrong... ;)

Instead of VLC you could try MPC-HC. It is also free.

    HPC-MC link: https://mpc-hc.org/
First result in Google when searching for MPC-HC. It really wasn't difficult to find the link.

yup, between vlc and MPC I don't think there's anything I've not been able to play..

hint: if using MPC, the full codec pack is useful to have

Why was it a 'big' mistake? You just need to download a media player and you are good to go.....
    VLC Good choice...
