Good morning everyone, thank you for the nice welcome yesterday. Thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
OH left me to sleep in this morning so just starting 2nd cup of tea and then will find some breakfast, don't seem to be able to eat very early:( Sun just broken through, have some pots of mini daffs and some snowdrops I would like to plant if energy allows, I will make myself do some of them at least.

Yesterday met with cousin and her OH for a very good lunch at country pub, sort of in the middle for both of us, lovely to see them and are going to try and meet up each season which makes me very happy.

OH just gone off cycling, so I have the joy of house to myself until this afternoon, he cycles 3 times per week if weather permits, and aims for over 5,000 miles per year, not bad for a war baby:D
Dearest dog is sulking (she does so each time), but will probably cheer up later and bring me toys to play with.

Have a good day everyone and good wishes to all that are poorly or going through difficult time.

So good to see I'm not the only one who tries to avoid needing to iron:D now if I could just curb my fondness for pure linen I could more or less completely abandon it

    Morning all,

Seems to be a nice day here a bit misty at the moment but will hopefully brighten up later on, I have the bedding in the wm and will hang it out for a while.

We have a mound of cuttings from the hedge to move this morning I cant believe the amount that's come off ! the difference in the light is amazing, we will clean the conservatory roof as well which will make a difference.

Dinner today is chicken with mash and salad nice and light I really cant face a heavy roast dinner.

DD's young man seems really nice, not her usual type at all she usually goes for more academic type but seems really nice and her usual type hasn't worked up to now :rotfl:

I never iron anything either I chucked my iron out years ago having ironed for most of one Saturday, the only thing I iron now is the table cloth for Christmas day.

Right better get on have good days all xx

NMLC I don't know if you've seen it but the OS thread - "Other thread opened my eyes" is about toxic parental relationships and has ideas about dealing with it. I wasn't that close to my parents but then, neither were my brothers, and we aren't close to each other (understatement of the year).

I don't iron either if I can help it, apart from my sewing (my ironing board is up all the time). DH has non-iron shirts for work and that's about it for the ironing.

No news here so I shall take myself off.

I never iron anything..in fact I don't even own an iron :D

Never ceases to amaze me what people iron...tea towels  !!!!!! is that all about:eek: :D

My friends came over last night and we had an Indian take away :). A very very rare treat for me as it is an extravagance beyond my means but everyone needs a treat every now and again.

I had chicken madras and nan bread, an onion bhaji, a poppadom and dips..twas lovely. My friend did most of the washing up too :A but still more to do this morning. I have finished washing up the glasses and wiped down the sides, dusted and shaken my rugs out with a view to sweeping and mopping later. All my windows are wide open airing the place :D

I had planned a trip to the gym, but I'm not sure about that now..will be quite happy doing nothing tbh. Got the WM on and am going to strip my bed...I seem to have got a bit of GUAG regarding housework today, so I am striking whilst the iron (what iron:p) is hot :rotfl:

Have a good day all :D

    Morning all,

absolutely no sleep for me last night as i was up with one of the hounds who seemed to be pooing for England (as well as the rest of the world). I usually feed them but hubby did yesterday and Millies bowels are like fine art. I think he must have given her too much.

As if that wasnt bad enough 'Prodigal' turned up on our doorstep at 6am and needed sorting out. "Ive hurt my foot Mom" he said. "ive lost my keys to the flat". Back at my eldest Sons who he said he'd spent the night with it turns out that he turned up there drunk as a skunk the night before. So it looks like i feed him during the day and he gets hammered with what little money he does have. This as you can imagine hasnt gone down well.

Hubby is in a foul mood (nowt changes there then) he hadnt got out his car on Friday when our neighbour grabbed him. He's having problems with his upstairs lights... and hubby being an electrician.... Well you can guess where i'm going with this.

Yesterday Youngest daughter phoned me to ask hubby to fix her plug socket in the back bedroom before the new carpet is laid tomorrow. Oh and the pull switch doesnt work. Can Dad fix that too? In between someone hubby knows from work was having problems with the wiring of his new shower....Meanwhile the small list of jobs i needed doing this weekend looks as though its been put on next weeks list.

Blasted sick of it i am. I cant blame hubby. Cant blame anyone really but its all mounting up and i'm tired and grumpy.
The fish have been fed and my L&M has a cuppa

Hester, what will happen to your fish when you move to your new home? Are they goldfish or fish outside in a pond?

Ironing.... i dont iron. Dont need to. All my clothes are tumble dried and to be honest nothing comes out the dryer as though it needs ironing. If hubby or Youngest wore shirt for work or something i should imagine i'd have to but they dont so I'm happy enough not to iron.

Onwards and forwards (but might need a snooze later),

    have a great day all.

    Morning

Karcher I love your thinking and totally agree:) I have a basket in the corner of my bedroom which has a few things in that really need ironing ...linen jackets, denim shirts, cotton tops ....the basket has probably been there 6 months now if not more and I have never needed anything enough to get the iron out. My two most hated jobs are changing the duvet and ironing ...I have to change the duvet but I can avoid ironing. Thinking the stuff in the basket really needs to go to charity or I will have the same problem once I have ironed worn and washed it again...99% of my clothes I can get away without ironing so its time to ditch the 1%

Having a relatively chilled day so far watching my favourite tv programme Sunday Brunch. I already have 2 new recipes I need to try Carrot Croquettes and Beetroot Chicken :) Later is into the room of doom for a short declutter. I hate the room now so cant stand being in there for long my theory is if I just do 15mins then it will start to get better slowly.

Turkey again for dinner but thats fine I do love it going to do some mash and peas with it (OK I know strange combination:o)

    Have a lovely sunday everyone

Do other people here enjoy a newspaper? I know everything is available on the net and I really don't get time for the paper on working days but I do like it on Saturdays and Sundays. I especially like the big crossword in the Times on Saturday but almost never finish it and yesterday managed only 4 clues.
We just have a paper (T£l£graph) on Saturdays now that Mr LW has retired; there's enough to keep us going for the week. We do the general knowledge crossword together, and I do the cryptic and the Sudoku. :o

I have a good many canine friends who have already made their journey to the Summerlands; so I shall count your ladies amongst them. :o

Re ironing: Mr LW does most of ours - which these days is hankies, as they fit in the drawer better ironed, and the occasional shirt if we're attending the theatre or the opera. ;) My mother used to iron absolutely everything - tea cloths, towels, socks, knickers, bras....... the lot. Blow that for a game of soldiers! :D
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Afternoon ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

OH had a bad night last so, so I did too, reading for a good couple of hours, fit for nothing this morning.

Prepped the chicken etc for supper, read for a bit and have done a bit more at sewing the binding down on the play mat. Not very happy with the quilting on the back, but tough......I am not undoing it, no way.

OH has gone for his siesta, I will be lighting the fire shortly. It was bright and sunny this morning, but the sky is very grey and the temperature dropping rapidly. I usually light the sitting room fire on Sunday afternoon as a treat.

    Off for nana nap.........
