How do I get an O2 unlocked .. o2 not helping
Options
Please can you help before I go MAD
I have a O2 contract phone which ends next week.
3 weeks ago I gave 30 days notice to terminate the contract.
1 day later I phoned to get my phone unlocked, following advice here at the time
Yesterday I find out the phone is still locked to O2
I phoned O2 this morning asking why it was still locked and was told the unlocking had been rejected as it was bought from another company.
Ok, I thought, I'll phone the supplier (Mobiles.co.uk) but they say only O2 or Sony can unlock the phone.
I phone Sony and they say to go back to O2, Sony only get involved if I had put in a wrong code so many times that the phone is locked.
I phone O2 again, and three times now after various conversations the lines gets cut off ..by them. One very helpful member, based in Capetown said she would find out and if need be, she would phone the suppliers and/ or Sony on my behalf.
Great ! ... then get cut off again
What should I do now, apart from finding a tall building to jump off ?

Are you sure its locked because mobile.co.uk phones are normally unlocked because they are part of Carponewarehouse and all cpwh phones are unlocked.
Unless you have a iPhone which locks to the first sim you put in it they are the only phones that do lock.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
Try ebay, Google ebay unlock code Sony (model number), that should throw up some likely suspects.0

iPhone except iPhone 7, plug it into your computer, launch iTunes and then put in the non-O2 sim.
Other phones:
Monthly contract customers can get it unlocked for free.
PAYG customers can get it unlocked for £15.
My guess is that if there is no working O2 sim in the phone, get an O2 PAYG sim card and pay the £15.

This is not a money saving tip but a tip to spare you any more hassle and that thought of a high building.
Assuming the phone is locked just pop into a local phone accessory store and pay the £10 they normally charge to unlock - job done! Then go and enjoy a coffee.0 -
Buy an unlock code off ebay?0

This is most odd.
I have usually bought sim only contracts and upgraded my phone separately, through CPW.
Last time I bought a handset, on a PAYG throwaway sim, the guy wanted to know what network as the phone would be locked to them. Handset was £20 cheaper on EE so I said EE, also telling guy CPW handsets were unlocked.
He said "No, it will be locked to network" & I said bo*****s and bought it with the EE sim, putting my own O2 sim in when I got home. Sure enough, it was unlocked.
But recent threads make me wonder if CPW are locking handsets to networks (don't know how they would do that).
Anyone in the know? Anyone from CPW or ex-CPW able to help??0 -
