The should have another box for direct rule - politicians here are simply not up to the job.
I'd say we could expect a fairly radical assessment of spending priorities under a Westminster appointee. DLA, duplicated education services, Irish and Ulster Scots (dump both and avoid accusations of favouritism), housing benefit look like prime candidates for pruning by a Tory administration. The gay marriage rule would likely be changed pretty quickly. Abortion law is of course too contentious.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

I'm in a mixed area too (I think!) but it seems like we get every party calling here. I guess they all feel welcome. It would help me decide on who to vote for if they actually spoke, and told me something positive that they were planning to do.
The election leaflets all sound like marketing bumff so that doesn't help. The dup's had a 'them and us' attitude which has put me off and the Sinn Fein one was mostly in Irish which I can't read. The rest sound much the same as each other.0 -
Completely agree, direct rule will get rid of the 'special circumstance' NI likes to hide under quick smart. Hello prescription charges, possible water charges, enhanced uni fees and bedroom tax will be a reality and who will we complain to then?
No political party will fit everyone 100%, think of what matters to you and your family and find the party that reflects the most of your concerns.
Think of the real changes could be made here if everyone went out and voted for what they are actually concerned about instead of the usual pile of nonsense.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

Possibly........but the mob on the hill just cant hack it, we all know that.
But the perverse thing is come election DUP/Sinn Fein will more than likely be voted back in for more of the same.0 -
I cannot understand the blind mentality that keep voting for the same glipes, I genuinely can't.
Historically, i think the politicians got away with a hell of a lot that joe public never found out about but now?
You only have to go on twitter to see the main parties getting a complete roasting and members of the public rising up and asking valid questions, it warms my heart it does.
If we give others parties the chance, it could really work and if it doesn't, at least we can say we tried.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

There was an item on RTÉ radio this morning when I was driving to drogheda where they were reporting from a political meeting in some church hall in Belfast. All the local candidates were on stage except for the dup who had failed to show. Someone asked the shiner what he'd known about rhi before the scandal broke. "Nothing". The man got pretty angry and more or less called him a fool and suggested he'd a right nerve looking for votes when he clearly hadn't a clue about his job. Got a good cheer.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0 -

Well exactly!
The DUP apparently didn't go as it was in a church and churches are sacred and shouldn't be used for such purposes - which was fine and dandy until someone on twitter asked them why they appeared at the same venue last year and that other members were at hustings in various churches around the place and on the sabbath as well!
We need to move away from this idea that if you highlight and question one of the main parties failings/lies/tripe that you are some how aligned to 'the other side'.
I couldn't give a fiddlers what people choose to believe or do with their free time, I care about elderly people I know lying on a trolley in the corridor at casualty for 20 hours, why middle class politicians consistently goad their working class voters with some warped fear tactic and do really little else and I want some sort of sane future for my children, who have been brought up as nothing but a human being who is no better or worse, or more entitled to anything than the next.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:
