I work in CS, from my perspective I'll always help someone who's polite much more than I would someone who gets up my nose from the off.
Anyway, it seems that the person you first talk to on the phone is not the one who offers anything new, they always put you through to the department for handling that, which I think is known as 'Retentions'? Presumably they know they are talking to someone who wants to leave or is asking for their PAC...Evolution, not revolution0 -

Why would calling up and asking for a PAC be considered aggressive? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Perhaps 'bullish' would have been a better word to use.0 -

Their second better offer can be countered with a request for your PAC, hopefully a third offer would be acceptable and saves having to try again with someone else.

I don't see customer retention a part of UK Companies to be honest and if you want to leave they will not care one jot, Also the bartering game can become quite tedious to say the least so always better off being straight and to the point from the first call.0 -

Perhaps the lack of politeness common in British public and/or emotional fragility of CS staff.
I've cancelled lots of services without being rude.
It's the same British mentality that puts up with bad food, mistakes and Brexit. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Poor customer service is more rife nowadays and the site is no smaller than when it first was set up, The fact here is that most UK Companies do not give a hoot if you stay as a customer or not.
Your point above is nonsense and even if every Company had very bad service it'd not change this forum and I am pointing out that is more prevalent now to be given poor services by UK Companies as they have a lack of time to deal with issues and or could not care less if you leave.0 -

You have statistics to back up your ridiculous claims about customer service I'm presuming?0 -

Yeh hang on I'll just go and get my pie charts for you and appease your uncertainty, Why would I need to post proof of anything when this is all primarily based on opinions due to being a forum !!! , That is until a individual such as yourself chooses to be pedantic.0
