I'm with Virgin media. With credit on my account
  • sky seem to be the best for normal broadband at the moment. £18.99/month line rental for 12 months = £227 and 'free broadband' for the 12 months. EE and vodafone are more expensive and EE ties you down for 18 months too! What a joke!

Does anyone know if it'll be a problem moving from BT fibre to Sky normal broadband? i.e. no hidden activation fees/engineering fees to downgrade etc?

Don't forget Cash Back on Sky via TopCashBack or Quidco, however, I'm paying less than £18.99 per month including anytime talk courtesy of MSE Sky offer in January - but do advise to check Cash Back status on their sites and be advised Cash Back offers change every few days, but U can get anywhere from £50-80 on Cash Back depending when you look and what's on offer.
  • Interesting to know why you are back to standard broadband having had fibre? Want to save some money or moved house and it's not available.
Doesn't matter so much being in a long contract if they increase prices can now move within 30 days to another supplier thanks to Ofcom.
  • Same for me - thought I had a 12 month deal after renewing last August but 6 months in, a price hike. Free BT Sport until August is not enough of an incentive to stay.

Looking at Quidco Compare, NOW TV have a tempting offer. Rolling month deal, £44 setup fee offset by cashback. Price fixed for 12 months includes phone and access to the base TV package that has Sky1. All for £28 a month for 39Mb fibre broadband. Price goes up after a year but of course, you aren't tied to a contract and can leave anytime.

Now TV is part of Sky and their broadband service is usually rated good.

I can get this deal then look for a large discounted package as a new customer - nothing tempting at the moment as they all know people are looking to leave BT. I've had £150 cashbacks before now, which can bring your monthly cost down to £10 over a year.
  • @wessie1962 moving back to normal broadband as we're not using fibre enough, nor the unlimited calling package! Also I've lost my job so really need to cut down on the unnecessary expenditure. It would be great to keep fibre, but we're not rich!

Of all the providers, I think Sky currently has the cheapest deal at the moment £18.99 x 12 and free broadband, with PAYG calls.

Hi. we have a good deal on bt broadband and sim only but do not want the tv (never use it) Could I ask them to cancel bttv only with the price hike & keep exsisiting bb & sims?
    ps had email last week
  • You can try anything you like - they weren't very receptive to us haggling so we told them we are moving. We're moving to sky next week. We are getting the refund on the annual line rental saver and exiting from the contract penalty free.

I encourage everyone with BT to either try to talk BT into keeping their existing deal, or leaving. You have the right to notify BT that you are leaving within 30 days of receiving that e-mail notifying you of the impending price increase. Don't let these big monopolies treat you like cattle. MOVE! :T

Just waiting for my final bill now from BT in order to make sure they haven't charged any fees and have refunded my prepaid line rental.
