Do I have a CCJ? Help!

Good afternoon everybody,

I'm a little confused as to something I saw on my credit report via MSE Credit Club.

When I log into credit club, it says "There are no County Court Judgments (CCJs) or bankruptcies on your Experian Credit Report."

Fine, this is exactly the same with Noddle and Clearscore.

However, once I click through to Experian Credit Report, then Public Record Information, I see the following:

Public Record Entry 1
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Details of Record
Information type
Judgment
Court name
NORTHAMPTON COUNTY COURT
Discharged date
-
Case number
xxxxxxxxxx
Source
Registry Trust Ltd
Entry code
J1

That's all the information that I can see?

Any help is greatly appreciated as always.

  • It looks like you have a CCJ, I'm sorry. Northampton County Court usually deals with claims online.

I have 2 (thanks to the water company, they are paid off but they will be sticking around until next year and the year after) and these show up on Noodle and Clearscore, but not on the MSE Credit Club. I don't know why.
  • Thanks for the reply Cake.

I'm just confused as to why it doesn't show on Clearscore, Noddle or Credit Club but shows when I click through.

If I was to ring Northampton County Court, do you know if they could give me the relevant information?

    Thanks in advance.
  • You're very welcome. It's unlikely that they will give you the details, but there is a place you can find it (they charge £4, which is bonkers); https://www.gov.uk/county-court-judgments-ccj-for-debt/ccjs-and-your-credit-rating

I'm not sure why they don't show on all of the credit files, I'm sorry. Some are more up to date then others. I can see the date of issue on Noodle, so I can see when it falls off.
  • Thanks again for the reply.

I find it crazy you have to pay to see "public information" on yourself. Seems that will be my only way of seeing what this judgement is for, and if in fact it is correct and mine.

Just goes to show you how pointless credit scores are because I imagine you have a good 'score' with those 2 CRAs and all because they don't show you as having a CCJ.

Whichever company registered the CCJ may only have reported back data to Experian, hence it not showing up on Equifax or Call Credit. A lot of companies only report to Experian, or Experian and Equifax.

  • It's very crazy, but then again, they should have sent you a form and a letter, so they expect people to know. If you haven't received any documents regarding this and you haven't moved house, you can ask for it to be set aside (which also costs a fee!) https://www.gov.uk/county-court-judgments-ccj-for-debt/if-you-dont-owe-the-money The UK's messed up.
  • Funnily I do have a good score with those 2 but with Experian it's....a big fat 0. I'm aware how pointless these things are but needed to see why it was at this number.

    A quick update:

I called the County Court and they were very helpful. Told me the date of the judgement, the company involved (which i've never heard of), the claimant's solicitor's number and a reference number.

Funnily, with Experian, I noticed they had 2 default entries on my account, one from Lloyds Bank and one from 1st Credit, each for a current account with a relatively high debt. The same debt actually.

As I only ever had an account with Lloyds when I was younger, I gave them a call as my account was closed with £0.00 balance so couldn't possibly be mine. I then noticed that the DOB was around 40 years before I was even born!

Lloyds were helpful enough and admitted responsibility for this eventually. Said they would update with the CRA and gave me £100 for the trouble it had caused.

I'm wondering if this CCJ is a similar thing. That it isn't mine!
  • Ah, that's fantastic! :D

Mine are absolutely mind (thanks to the water company). They like it when you pay in advance for water you haven't used yet, and get a little funny when you can't pay it. The cost they added on for the CCJ was more than the water bill <swears>

    Hi TheRoversLad,

I'm surprised to see this isn't showing in your Credit Club account as it's Experian's data you're seeing here. However, I'm am pleased you found out more info once you rang the court and were able to start the process to tracking this down.

But I'm curious to know whether you've added all of your addresses when registering for Credit Club, the same way you did when you registered with Experian directly?

We can only produce a report based on the info provided at the point of registration so if this CCJ isn't showing in Credit Club, it might suggest the address where your CCJ was registered against has been missed. If not, then there may be an issue with the club not pulling this info through correctly.

We launched the report this week and we want to make sure this is functioning correctly and your insight will prove helpful to us!
  • Hey, Chris.

My Credit Club shows that I'm CCJ free, but I'm not (2 satisfied CCJ's show on Noodle and Clearscore). One should drop off next year, the other a year later, but the Credit Club tells me that I don't have any. They are both registered at my current address, the one you have the details for. It currently says "There are no County Court Judgments (CCJs) or bankruptcies on your Experian Credit Report."

    Hope this helps.
