DOCSIS is the technology they use to deliver TV and broadband over coax, as opposed to xDSL which suppliers on the Openreach network use.

RFoG is what Virgin use for their FTTP, as opposed to GPoN use by Openreach.

Virgin are FTTP (fibre to the premises)? Really? I didn't know that. Please explain, because you've got me hooked.

I am in London and upgraded from ASDL to FTTC.

Speed went up from 5Mpbs to 9Mpbs.

God help the rest of the country if all investment is centred in the south east as I am constantly reading.

They're starting to roll out some FTTP, I believe they're aiming for 2 million FTTP connections by 2019 as part of project lightning.

A quick google brings up a few articles on ISPreview and thinkbroadband.

You're the exception rather than the rule.

My parents went from a flakey 2.2meg to a rock solid 80.

If you can indeed get fibre to the house, how can you use it?

I have been burying CAT6 cables whenever I lift floor boards.

200Mbps across Wi-Fi might be possible within the same room, router to TV, for 4K UHD streaming, but a bit unlikely to another room.
