The great BT rip off

Options
Well it looks great folks, join BT broadband and get a £100 voucher. But hey – they have this great policy – you don’t receive it. It’s a faux-voucher.

I signed up, expecting a nice, shinny voucher for £100. Called them for 3 months, they said ‘Its coming its coming!’. I had to fill in a form, but still it didn’t come.

Called them today and - what a surprise – it was too late!

Yes, even thought I had called and called and called and called, it was too late to get the myserious faux-voucher that didn’t exist. Now its 'Too late' the fantastic claim period has passed.

I’ve been well and trully ripped off by BT, who lied to me and kept me waiting until the offer ran out.

Another thing you should know abuot BT. While every other phone company I know includes free calls to mobiles in their Anytime Call Package – BT don’t. They’re just discounted not free. I racked up a £40 bill before realising.

So I had to get a BT sim card, to get free calls to my mobile.

They promised to refund this charge, and guess what - it was a lie.

I was with TalkTalk before, they're cheap with an overseas call centre, but hey- the service was actually pretty darn good. No probs for 3 years.

I called, and called, and called, and called BT and guess what – no refund. And, there is no record of all my calls.

Well friends, do yourselves a favour - go elsewhere.

Some other providers do not have inclusive mobile calls, so it is up to you to check what you are getting.

I went from Sky to PlusNet, and the latter, unlike the former, do not include caller display in the line rental fee, so it was up to me to include the extra 99p in my calculations for price comparison.

Yeap you can't rely on vouchers from BT.

The only thing you can rely on is that the price will rocket after 12 months.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I've been quite shocked at the terrible, terrible and utterly dishonest service.

I've been with TalkTalk, Sky and Orange - all fantastic service - yes even Talk Talk!!

But BT have been just delays, lying, excuses and more excuses.

Thankfully, its just a 12mo contract and I'll be gone soon- but they ripped me off at least £100 and that's annoying to say the least!

    Slight knee jerk reaction there.

The voucher doesn't form part of the service contract, so good luck with a small claims court case, or indeed getting out of the contract without penalty.

Since Ofcom's changes to the cap on mobile termination rates, effective 1 May 2015, all landline providers may have been expected to offer inclusive calls to mobile numbers starting 071-075 and 077-079. BT is conspicuous in not yet doing so. Another drop in the MTR cap will take effect on 1 April 2017. How much longer will BT attempt to resist the inevitable?

Ofcom currently has proposals for scrapping charges for caller display. If adopted into regulation, these charges should disappear within the year.

I guess this is what you get for going with BT, they're big, they're established, they can get away with it.
I made the mistake of having a BT sim card, appalling service, yes worse than TalkTalk - if that's possible.

A bit of a thread resurrection, but agreed.
