I remember before the 2008 financial crash we used to get $2 to the Pound and a lot for the Euro as well, can't remember exactly how much.
Thing is I don't remember all these items being much cheaper back then, the American and EU companies must have been racking it in.
The Pound then fell to around $1.50 over the years even before we voted to leave the EU. Currencies go up and down all the time.0 -

We as a nation under John Major as PM were offered 3 Euro for every 1£ to convert our home currency to Euro. Does that mean even after a growing economy, inflation we are now about 2/3 poorer than we were?0 -

Yes but you're forgetting that the dollar cost of the equipment only makes up part of the RRP. For instance the UK retailers markup is often independent of external currencies because their overheads such as staff pay, building rent etc are paid in £. That means the RRP of an item is not directly proportional to the exchange rate - for example is might work out like this.0 -
I started the thread to share news about price increases in technology which is relevant to the 'techy stuff' section of a moneysavingexpert forum. I recommend monitoring price increases as well as bargains and moneysaving offers predominantly featured elsewhere on the site and forum.0
