And this is why emergency funds exist. I don't have one, of course.
Hello, I am a longer term reader, first time poster... but I thought I would mention. If your keyboard is a gonna, and you don't mind second hand (understanding your job may mean a certain level needed), maybe keep an eye out on freecycle? I just gave one away to someone wireless with mouse in pretty good nic. Might just be worth a lookie for things like that.
Well done on all you have been able to do! You've made huge changes in such a short time so it can get quite exciting. Just remember to recall the good things you've done when you need a reminder. When you get down or less excited about it, take a breather and remember all the good you've achieved so quicklymight help you stay on track. Its difficult to forget the good you did last month and before as soon as you are looking to what is next.
Keep up the good work and inspiring others:beer::A

Keyboard still not healthy, so irritating! also annoying because it makes it very hard to round up my list, pah. suffice to say I have achieved lots, spent nothing and dismantled the keyboard to try to dry it out. Never do this if you are the sort of person who is freaked out by germs. SO grubby under the keys.Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.

Week 3: Day 7
Let's start the day with a big sigh and a tiny violin playing. The keyboard is still dead so it looks like we'll be buying a new one. Have put the word out on FB and to the parents to ask their friends (who have those kind of things lying around, being wealthy enough to actually replace computers every now and again), but if nothing by Sunday we'll get one off eb@y - there seem to be plenty for £20-30 secondhand, rather than £50-100  for a new one. For the record, I would like to point out that a secondhand one wouldn't even have OCCURRED to me a few weeks ago - I would have told myself it's something I use all the time, so of course I 'need' a new one. See, little changes!
Got the barclaycard statement in today, and pleased to see the minimum payment has dropped a little - only a few pounds, but it's good to see as it means that more of what we're putting towards it is overpayment, and also means if the !!! hit the fan that we could reduce payments down a bit.
I just checked yesterday's list and realised I managed everything except candle making - might try to do that today after my clients leave. I mixed in Aldo's version of stork with the butter for the biscuits I made (25% stork, 75% butter) and it's absolutely fine for the biscuits, but definitely not as tasty in the buttercream (Viennese whirls!). Will try subbing more stork in the biscuits and less in the buttercream next time. Fine for clients though, still miles better than shop bought.
I got a couple more enquiries for work yesterday, mainly for April, hopefully some or all of them will come to fruition. It's quite weird realising that thanks to my shiny new business account management I won't see the benefit from those enquiries until at least my May 'salary'. Financially sensible, very boring.
To Do today:
1. Social media while working.
2. Bake mincemeat cake (realised I forgot this yesterday)
3. Make potato and leek/kale/broccoli/whatever greens are kicking around the fridge soup. My children love 'green soup', even though they look at me in horror if I present any of those vegetables to them on a plate. Good way to get some nutrition in.
4. Put a begging call out for Apple keyboards.
5. Email to chase a return that went back over a week ago and still has no notification.
To do this week::
I know I've done everything off this list so I'm not going to punish myself by copying and pasting on my phone.
Hope everyone has a good Saturday ahead!Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.

I've found it's a good idea to turn the keyboard upside down when you are drying it out.
Have you got a big carboot anywhere near you? In ours, they go for £2 to £5. Mind you, Scots are a weebit , lol, tighter with their money than down south, so they may be a bit more expensive if you live in England.0 -
Woohoo, a friend has an ancient Apple keboard we can borrow while we keep an eye on eb@y for a cheap second hand one to come up. This may be the first time in about a decade I have dealt with a problem by doing something other than just throwing money at it. I'm practically a proper grown up!
Had an enquiry today for another bit of work next weekend, plus a few little sales in my smaller business, so there's a little bit of money trickling into the business account for May's salary pot, which is incredibly reassuring. I have a plan for additional business income too - once I've made enough to cover three month's expenses in there (still a way off - I'm only a month ahead at the moment) I'm going to start dividing the money between saving enough to get (1)6 months ahead, (2)debt overpayment and (3)increasing our monthly salaries (approximate 1/3 towards each 'pot').Trying to figure out a whole new life. Trying to figure out a whole new budget.
