Crazy Insomniac Sock Lady checking in

(to any who knows not what I am wittering about, may I refer you to yesterdays thread
)
Well torrential rain over night woke me up in the early hours and I didn't sleep properly after that. I so wish I had a switch I could flick on and off so my thoughts and worries don't descend on me in the early hours of the morning and I could sleep peacefully!
No plans for the day as yet. I think the floor needs a sweep and mop and I have washing up to do from last night. The windows need cleaning but not much point whilst it's raining.
Just picked up my cup of tea to have a slurp...oh the disappointment I felt when I realised I'd already finished it
..that means I need to move off the sofa to replenish my cup..pah!
Well after yesterdays excitement of counting of my 76 pairs of socks..I think I may count my smalls (or rather not so smalls:p) today.
I know how to live :rotfl:
Take care all and have a good Sunday :A
..'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Morning all.....It's been a while since I posted too. I tend to be overtaken by life and run out of time. We've had breakfast and today I will be making a roast chicken dinner to make up for yesterdays bad mother award - I let the house troll have chocolate shreddies and croissants for tea. I also had cereal and croissants. I think the lack of sunshine etc is the cause of the current lethargy.
Last weekend was also mad busy as we had one of our favourite people in the world visiting so the whole thing was a bit full on and we were all shattered by Sunday evening (favourite person included). This weekend we're taking it easy and slobbing a bit.
Dumpling...if you need an online buddy who can be anxious over nothing and also overstocks the freezer and cupboards then I'm your woman, complete with allied weight problem.
I'm trying to rein the shopping tendency in at the moment as I'm saving up spending money for our trip away at the end of May. I'm also as ever trying to lose weight. It's very hard and slow going at the moment and at times like last weekend when fitting in with other people an absolute dead loss.
Good luck with you second viewing HH and love and hugs to the rest of you.0 -

karcher I thought I had a lot of socks - about 40 pairs involving fluffy slipper socks, trainer socks, sports socks, plain black socks and a few novelty pairs - but you are the clear winner in the Excessive Foot Warmer category :rotfl: :rotfl:
My floors have been mopped a couple of times, the laminate is clean now but the wood is being stubborn, lol. I'll go over it again today with the steam mop and hope for the best.
I haven't had a landline for over a week, the phone has been in the kitchen but I had no idea where the base unit was. I found it in the hall yesterday, buried between books and blankets
I might leave it unplugged for another couple of days, it's been lovely without it.
Scampi hasn't been able to do his usual things, laze around in his favourite places or even move around the house much. But he's been a little star, so patient when he's had to wait for things. If only I could get him to be that patient when he's attached to a lead, lol. I called him in to the lounge when the sofas were back in there, he was sooooo excited to be able to jump up onto his seat

Need to pick up a new radiator from Screwfix. It's already paid for and waiting for us, the shop is just down the road so that won't take long. The old radiator is going in master tru's room, his is very old, too big and quite ugly
Mr tru is going to latex the floor around the edge of the room. There was asphalt coving at the bottom of the walls, we've removed that but it's broken the floor up a bit at the edges. While he's doing that I'm going to vax one of the sofas. I've only used it upright so have no idea how to use the attachments, I'll have to find the instruction book.
This afternoon I'm not doing anything at all, unless it involves food and telly

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
The weather is dire, foggy and raining, just for a change, yukkkk.
Just had our usual breakfast, trying to get up enough energy to get up and shower.
No plans for today. We light the fire Sunday afternoon, it's nice to sit by especially on a manky afternoon.
Laundry on, will have to use the dryer part dry stuff and then finish it off on the rads. I washed the mucky white net from our bedroom, will swap it with the one in the back bedroom which could also do with a wash.
Supper tonight, pork.0 -
Good morning,
Thank you Nmlc for starting the thread.
TA what book are you reading?
Hester good luck with second viewing, hope you can get it if you feel it's the right place.
Great news about Mr Judi re. PPI!
Dumpling sorry you are going through a difficult time (((hugs))).
Last night I went to my friend's birthday party and overate like mad, I am so fed up of this seeing food and overeating habit, I don't know how to break it. I really need to drop some weight and I start with good intention, then fall at the first hurdle. I could do it if I isolated myself from others and had no social events.
Speaking of events, today we are off to our short break, two night in fancy hotel and visit to Bletchley Park. I hope the food is good and not excessively fattening in the hotel, as we are on half board. At least it will be portioned up, not great big pans of this and that like at my friend's!
DH, the sweetheart, just brought me a nice cuppa in bed. After this we will go to church then will have a light lunch before leaving.
will let you know how it goes when I get there.
Hugs to all who need them and well wishes to the poorlies.
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning everyone, thanks to nmlc for starting the thread and hugs to those who need them.
Son has had to hightail it back to the dentist this morning as the temporary fix yesterday did nothing to help the pain. Think he'll head back to Newcastle this afternoon suitably stocked with soft provisions....
We had turkey curry last night LO from Christmas so an easy dinner and tonight I'm making pork souvlaki and tsatziki so my Vit C levels should get a good boost from all the garlic LOL.
Still bitterly cold here and murky so not a day for straying far, think my sister will pop round later for a cuppa and a catch up but apart from that a quiet day.
Need to do some housework and change my bed but another cuppa beckons before I get on with that.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
CATERINA have a lovely break. To answer your question, the book is Summer at the Lake by Erica James. Nice easy reading which floats between the past and present, in Oxford and Lake Como, with romance thrown in.
Well done Mr Judi. What a lovely surprise. DUMPLING hope you soon feel better. I'm sure we will all perk up when Spring arrives.
Back to my soup kitchen now as both should be cool enough to liquidise, then can get on with the lunch.
Btw we never did get the early snow nor have we yet got the rain. It's just very miserable and windy.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
It is cold and damp and grey round here so staying in the warm and being lazy.
Princess fluffy (cat) has been litter trayed and food, water and dreamies put out for her and seems to be fairly content. Made myself a bacon sandwich and coffee and will have cheese omelette for lunch.
The house is fairly tidy, just dishes to be put in DW etc before princesses staff (DD and SIL) arrive around four to take her home.
I left a message on their voice mail to see if my having a bite to eat for them when they arrive would be a help.
Might brave trying the kale and leek soup I made the other day (looks like green water!) Never mind, think of the vitamins!;)
Dumpling
This weather is enough to give anyone the dismals. Big hug and take care of yourself.
I am in the middle of reading an Alys Clare book and really enjoying it. The contrast between getting caught up in mediaval times with cold, hunger and rough justice with knowing you personally are warm and cosy with plenty of food, hot water, transport, communication and entertainment on tap is delicious.
Hester
Good luck with the second viewing and fingers crossed.
Caterina
I am on the merrygoround where I lose and gain the same few pounds over and over

Well, I've scanned and shredded loads of paperwork so the room is getting clear of the junk. I've a great wee scanner app on my phone which scans and then emails the docs to me (or anyone else) which is so useful.
I've been waiting to light the woodburner only it's still got glowing embers from last night and I need to clear it out. My little ash vac doesn't like hot embers so I've had the door open on it since 10.00a.m. I last put logs on the fire at about 6.30p.m. last night so I'm astonished that it's still glowing. It was yesterday morning too so I just lit a new fire on top, now it needs emptying as it's been four days.
My lunch of a piece of MB tortilla is heating up in the oven. I normally use the microwave but everything goes sloppy. A friend bought me a pyramid silicone mat which is meant to keep the bottom of food crispy so I'm trying that out. So far it's giving a little bit of fumes but I suppose that's OK for the first couple of times, nothing else nasty! Now I'm hoping that the food will have a crispy bottom.
There's a rugby game on in a couple of hours which I'm interested in. :j I won't actually watch it as I can't bear to but I'll keep on looking for the score. Apart from that the rest of my day will be spent doing SFA.
Chins up!0
