Virgin - Blackmail - Absolutely Outrageous!!!

Options
Posting on behalf of my good friend.

Absolutely OUTRAGEOUS Virgin Media are blackmailing my 77 year old dad, who has the onset of dementia, is deaf and going senile. HE has been without any form of contact with the outside world for 4 days (no house phone, mum, wife died 7 yrs ago) He was told by Virgin Media to insert a new 4G Sim. His old (more than 5 years ) Samsung Galaxy phone 3G will not support the new 4G Sim. He is now being told that he can not stay on his £6/month contract and needs to buy a new phone that supports 4G BLACKMAIL. He has my new Apple 6S+ so at least he can ring an ambulance or my home phone or my sister if he is having a seizure (like he did last night and could'nt contact anyone as his VIRGIN phone and Sim DO NOT work. PLEASE SHARE TWEET this to Virgin Media as after at least 10 hours (NO JOKE) of telephone calls to Virgin, being hung up on and passed from pillar to post trying to find out why my dad's phone is not in service. It is not fair that he is being told to double his monthly contract. THIS MAY AFFECT YOU PLEASE SHARE

Not sure that counts as blackmail.

Why cant he just use his old SIM?
  • Or get a deal elsewhere which may well be cheaper anyway.

It is bad situation, but compared to "wild west" world of communications services in general and cowboys as VodaFvks allowed to continue operate, sad, but not unexpected...

"jungle" out there literally! and OFCOM does what it is- useless nothing.
  • That's neither blackmail nor absolutely outrageous I'm afraid.

Far too dramatic to take seriously.

Just get him a PAYG SIM or a SIM only contract elsewhere.

They've posted about it on FB. The gentleman, according to his daughter, has collapsed and is throwing up. So rather than getting him to hospital she's posting on Facebook. Poor chap, it seems it's not only Virgin that aren't helping him.

Are you sure he's in a fit state to live at home on his own ? (Apologies if he isn't in the house alone).

If you put a 4G compatible sim in a non-4G phone it will just pick up 2G/3G.

Why does this read like a Facebook post?

    PS

    It's not blackmail...

PLEASE SHARE TWEET so its on twitter or you wouldn't be asking to share.
Sim should still work like someone else said it will go on 3g/2g.

It's too long for twitter, and sharing is a facebork thing, I think the OP just missed some form of punctuation like PLEASE SHARE / TWEET in their anger and upset ;).
