Gov.uk has name changes list as one of the things you have to notify them for and buy a new passport for, our honeymoon is booked in my maiden name but i'll be sending off for a new one as soon as i get back.

This hasn't been the case ime - I got married nearly 6 years ago, changed my name in most places but my passport still had 8 years to go on it so I didn't change it. I've just booked all our holidays since in my maiden name and carried my marriage cert with me just in case - never needed it and never had a problem!
  • I never changed my name at all when i married so certainly didnt have costs.
The actually marriage part is having the legal papers signed- rings. changing names etc are all optional
