An early harvest festival used to be celebrated at the beginning of
the harvest season on 1 August and was called Lammas, meaning
'loaf Mass'. The Latin prayer to hallow the bread is given in the
Durham Ritual. Farmers made loaves of bread from the fresh wheat
crop. These were given to the local church as the Communion bread
during a special service thanking God for the harvest.
:hello: Happy Lammas Day everyone
Hope you're feeling better today rose - sending (((hugs)))
and get well soon wishes. xx
Lol! Loved your Monday pic yesterday sylv!:T
It's another stunning day here - sun is shining and birdies are
singing away.I'd best make the most of today just in case
the 'predicted' rain arrives tomorrow!
Have a lovely and lucky day all and please take care whatever
you're up to.

Morning everyone. Very overcast and damp here. Not looking promising for the rest of the day. Didn't sleep well but have had a morning cuppa and so far it has stayed down. Need to go out this morning but have booked taxi there and back. Not risking public transport. Legs felt a bit wobbly when I first got out of bed but the seem to be improving and feel a bit steadier. Hope everyone is well and enjoying any sunshine that is left over the country.0

Hope you feel better soon rose.

DS's Radar must have been twitching. Made a large pot of chicken curry for freezing and in he came as soon as it was cooked. So have two portions for freezing and he has gone home with the rest for him and family. Remember the rag and bone man well indie we used to get small toys and balloons from ours and anything like scrap metal etc money went to parents. Turned out quite nice this afternoon but expecting more rain later. Hope everyone has a nice evening0

Morning everyone/ Looks like it is going to be nice here today. Have been awake since just after 4am. Mr Seagull was having a noise contest with what sounded like Mr Crow. The little birdies are singing away now. Not doing much today apart from nipping out for bread and milk. Hope everyone is well and good luck with comps.0

:hello: Good morning everyone
Hope you're all ok. Not really sure what the weather will
be doing today - it's bright at the mo but rain has been
predicted!? May be arriving later on in the day?
Anyhow I finished all I wanted to do in the garden
yesterday and got other things that are needing doing
today indoors so would be nice to see a bit of rain now.
Lol! I can remember the 'rag and bone man' from years
back too indie!
I just googled the name and found a very interesting
article on how they got the name ..... sometimes they
were known as bone-grubbers!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rag-and-bone_man
The Bone-Grubber by Richard Beard. Henry Mayhew
described one bone-grubber he encountered as wearing
a "ragged coat… greased over, probably with the fat of
the bones he gathered" _pale_
On that note I really must get on.Have a lovely and
lucky day all and take care whatever you're up to.
