You did the WRONG THING, sorry to say. NEVER PAY DRP

DRP are powerless debt collectors and you have been conned

You have full right to cancel such an agreement.

Have they taken the first payment yet even though you cancelled the card ?

Nobody, DRP or bailiffs will NOT be calling on you

NEVER GIVE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD INFO TO SCAMMERS.

They can't even enforce the stupid extra charge they have slapped on for the joy of sending scrap paper to you, let alone turn up at your house, for goodness sake never phone a scammer
  • i was scared on behalf of my family as i have a 8 month old baby and didn't want the bailiffs coming to my house and apparently it takes 3 days to take payment as my girlfriend said i cancelled my card and requested new one about an hour later

To understand this, before a bailiff can call, it needs court action and that is not happening.
DRP are used by parking companies to scare people.
    NOTHING WILL HAPPEN

With electronic systems the chances are high that they have taken the first payment whilst you were on the phone.

You were probably coerced by DRP to do this.

There are laws to protect you against unscrupulous traders such as DRP. I ASSUME YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED AN AGREEMENT with DRP

Cancelling your card doesn't necessarily cancel a payment you authorised. You need to put the payment into dispute with your credit card provider or they might pay out under the new card (it is not about cards, it's the same account).

Why the heck did you not just Google them before ringing them? Flippin heck this was naive. People need to be taught about scams at school and learn when to smell a rat and research first.

Rest assured ......... they won't take your baby!

In fact they won't take anything. All they can do is write letters to scare you, and so far that seems to have worked.

Get on to your cc company and make sure the authorised payment is properly cancelled. Then ignore anything else DRP (or their other incarnation, Zenith) throw at you.

You haven't, anywhere, confirmed if this is related to a private parking charge. Is it? If so, which parking company is involved?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

He needs to speak to his card provider and block any payment to DRP, must be done tomorrow

Yes, a chargeback must be actioned.
However, if the payments are monthly, the card he gave will be void the next month due to a new 3 digit security number on the back of the card
This would be classed as distant selling and the law protects

As far as why people don't search first, it's beyond me but that's how vermin like DRP earn their dosh, born out of ignorance.
