    Thanks Bob!
  • I had a meeting today with the Macmillan financial team. My mom is definitely entitled to Attendence Allowence which is a weekly benefit and they will be fast tracking it because of the situation. They also applied for a grant which is a one off payment and will be a great help for them with the extra costs in travelling to the hospital and parking.

I also rang the bank for my dad and made an appointment for him on Monday to change his account which will save £30 a month :)

My budget is looking a bit more realistic now I have added a few more things...I'm not sure weather I should just concentrate solely on paying my debts or try to get some savings as well just incase anything unexpected comes up??.....any advice would be really appreciated xxx

I'm so glad your Mum qualifies for that allowance. Some relief at least.

On savings vs debts, I would definitely save an emergency fund. It stops the need to reach out for credit again. Even if it makes debt repayment slower.

  • Thanks Bob...I'm going to re-do my budget and start saving a small amount each month...it will be so good to have something to fall back on if needed.

    To Do For Me

Check my latest Next statement on Wednesday to see how much interest I'm paying, as all my returns will be upto date.

Write new budget to include emergency fund and a small amount for extras.

    Complete surveys.

Eat healthier! I'm feeling so run down and I need to look after myself better so I can look after everyone else.

Make some chicken soup and freeze it so I have something quick I can grab for lunch.

It's my Moms 70th birthday on Wednesday, make it a special day for her.

Business Goals (I think these will take a few weeks)

Finish sorting my work room out - I have been doing a bit of this each morning so it's nearly done now.

Start making - I made lots of mixed media jewellery last year which I loved doing and I still have lots of supplies and it's something I can take to my moms and work on pieces whilst I'm with her. So I'm going to concentrate on this as much as possible.

Re open my Etsy shop and look at other avenues for sales.

Complete free on line marketing course... This is an area I really struggle with.

    Start using social media.

    For My Mom & Dad

Fill in the forms for Attendance Allowance and the grant.

Take forms to the Macmillan finance team so they can check everything is ok.

Ring their gas and electric supplier to go over the review (if they don't contact me by the end of the week)

Try and find free parking at the hospital. My mom starts palliative treatment tomorrow and has to go for 10 days. If I can find free parking it will save £40

Ring their insurance - their bath is leaking and because it's coming from the pipe it's covered by the insurance.

I hope everyone has a great week!
