Temporary Address Change Impact

So wife and I have sold our house and moved in with my parents for 2 months until our new house is ready.

I want to apply for a new savings account, should I wait until in the new house because currently on any application I would show living with parents and would this affect the scoring?

If I do wait and any future applications moving forward, should I consider my parents house as a previous address or ignore the gap? Lastly, and not necessarily for this forum, should I change the address on all my bank accounts and credit cards or wait until I move in?

Wait until you've moved in before effecting any new financial arrangements. Don't notify anyone of your parents' address. Ignore the gap. If they get wind of it, the clowns at the CRAs will record it forever as a linked address - assuming it isn't already linked - which it might be from any previous residence you had there.

Yeah I have lived here before, 9 years ago now. What impact would it have though?

When new financial arrangements ask for previous 3 addresses with month and year, there would be a 2 month gap. Or should I start my most recent address 2 months earlier?

End previous address one month later - start new address 1 month earlier.

As above, avoid applying for anything during the gap. I would not change any addresses until you have moved.

If it was me I would leave that also. Just put a royal mail redirect to your parents house so you don't miss any important mail.

I concur with this (except the Royal Mail stuff, which I don't like :))

Regarding the residence nine years ago - this will probably not affect anything. Most providers ask for addresses in the last three years. Quite why the CRAs keep indefinite address histories I can only guess - it can't be anything to do with credit. I'm mulling over whether or not to take up the issue with the ICO.

I have the redirect but just if I got pulled or had an ANPR check it might not look good and cost me a grand.

What is the downside of this as a linked address only for 2 months?

It will be less hassle to use a redirection for a few months.
As for ANPR, is your car unique and only works in your street?!

Not that I would encourage this - but if it happened tell the nice officer you only moved a few weeks ago and you sent the paperwork a few days ago - yes of course you're happy to provide evidence you have only just moved house.

Personally I can't see the number of addresses mattering on your credit file - what matters is that it all matches up if you change it and then later omit it from your credit applications.

Personally I'd declare it as what if you end up there longer than 2 months... not unheard of that things get delayed.
