Hello,
first off im not sure if iv posted in the right part, if so ill move this to the right topic.
basicily i recenty filed for my creditscore with clearscore.com as for some reason i was refused finance on a purchase. which i found odd as i have never had any dept or mispayments. when looking at my score it said i had a CCJ on my account. i done a little research and found out it was from vodafone. from a contract i had with them when i was 16 years old, im now 28. i did have a contract with them when i was 16 but it was canceled within the cooldown period and the phone was sent back. Didnt hear a thing until 11 years (yes 11 Years) later saying i owe around £600 i think it was. shocked at this i contacted vodafone and as i didnt know the phone number i had from 11 years ago, they search via my name and address. they could not find anything on there file regarding my contact or any ccj or passing onto any collection agency. Now if i had known about this along time before i would of questioned this and disputed it or if i had to pay it off. Im 28 years old living in a rented house with my partner and son of 8 months, saving and looking to move into a family home which we have been saving for a deposit now for around 5 years. now this with CCJ on there i cant get a mortgage. I have no letters from any collection agency or from any court or anything regarding to CCJ to get incontact with to discuss this matter. Just really looking for any advice what so ever.
Sorry for the long story but wanted to post everything regarding the situation im in.
Many thanks in advance.

When did it default?
When was the CCJ served?0 -
Surely this will be due to come off your file soon. A default would stay for 6 years and I assume they applied for a CCJ just before this was due to drop off your file. So you would have another 6 years with the CCJ.
What is the date oc the CCJ?0 -
Im not 100% sure when it was placed all it says on my report on clearscore is (You have had at least one Court Judgement) nothing about the court the collection agecy when, where or what.0
-
Ok I guess clearscore does not show you the date. If you sign up to Experian or Equifax directly it will tell you. You obviously have to pay for those but you can cancel x within your free trial.
If this happened as you say 11 Years ago, I would imagine this will be coming off your file within the next year. It's pretty difficult to fight this ad if happend so long ago0 -
Yeah ill have to sign up to one fo those, thank you. Yes its very frustrating and upseting as if it had come to it i would of just paid it off and be done with it and not have the CCJ on my file. But as i didnt get any letters, emails or calls regarding this i didnt know there even was a CCJ on there,
thank you for the replys ill sort out a proper credit report and see what happens.0 -
Check Noddle, it's free.
You need to know the date of the CCJ, if what you say is correct, you never actually made any payments to this account, as you say it was returned within the cool down period.
You need to know if this debt was statute barred before they had the CCJ granted, or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Ill look into getting the date and repost on here. Everything i said in frist post is 100% true. i remember getting an email and also a letter confirming the contract had been canceled so when hearing the CCJ was from that i was shocked and confused as it was canceled. i forgot to add the reason why i cancled was i left my part time job and went to collage, and didnt want the contact weighing me down if i couldnt make the payments from not working0

You can glaze over ypur score from Equifax and Experian as lenders dont see these, the history is whats important.0

It's possibly worth noting that I don't think you can take out a credit agreement prior to turning 18... if you were 16 at the time then I believe any agreement - cancelled or not - would be invalid?DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

At the same time file a complaint with telecomms ombudsman explaining what have happened, as they will be very interested in hearing about it.0
