Only if your requirement are fairly basic and you don't need to interact with templates and more complex documents produced by others using the real thing!0 -
If you choose File > save as... in Libre Office it always gives you the choice of what format to save it. Under the file name is 'Save as type' with a drop down menu. As long as you keep the format of your document fairly simple, if you choose to save it as a .doc or .docx it should look fine when someone view it using word.
Yes although I would tend to say "very simple" and "might look fine" I'm afraid.
It is fine for creating your own stuff and printing it out but any interaction with users of the real thing can be problematic, sometimes even with seemingly very simple documents.0 -
It seems that PMs can't be sent to you anyway.0

Thank you for your reply. Yes, as was mentioned before, that is something I had been doing in the past, however, I am unsure how I don't always get offered an option as to what to save it under, but that is one of the things that was making me ask.
The other point, of course, is that if there is a Word document, such as an application form, for example, I have tried to save it into an alternative format in order that I can edit it, but it won't let me. This is becoming a real "pain", because it means that I am very limited as to what I can or cannot do on my laptop, without buying more software, programmes, etc! I then have to go to the local library, when it is open and there is a pc available, to carry out things like this, (which don't really offer suitable facilities for completing these types of long-winded documents).0 -
Now AndyPix appears to be out of the picture (- no pun intended), can ANYONE else help with advice, information and suggestions on how to complete an application form (and other such documents) that has been produced in Microsoft Word/Office, when your pc only has Libre Office? (- that is, WITHOUT having to buy further software or programmes, because I can't afford to do that, too.)0

I know you say you can't afford it but surely you can spare £7.99 a month to get Microsoft Word (plus all the other office programs). I would say £7.99 a month is worth it if it increases your chances of getting a job by producing professional looking CV's and application forms.0 -

No, I meant it when I said that I couldn't afford it.
I am on a tight budget, and just under £100 a year is a luxury that I really cannot afford!0 -

I totally take the OP's point about being on a tight budget and I'm not trying to change their mind.
But just to clarify, you can currently get a 1-user, 1-year licence for Office 365 Personal for £45 (and, for some reason, 3 pence) for the year.

This is directly from Amazon so it will be legit, and cheaper than £7.99 per month, assuming the OP will need it for more than 6 months.0 -
Use hot deals UK and set up an alert, you'll pick it up for around £40. I did.
