So in reality it happened once in a blue moon, but you're happy to give people with no other knowledge / experience that pre-reg carrs are dossed about in by mechanics on their lunchbreak down to KFC or wherever?

Cars are preregistered because the dealer has bulk bought - and paid for - cars that they then can sell of cheaper because they got a bigger discount

NOT so that mechanics can lounge about in them.

    HTH.
I don't know why you're equating what I've said with 'a blue moon'. As I've said, I've seen it happen. Plenty of times in several years working very closely with dealerships, and almost every week I see both new, unregistered and current-registration, trade plated, screen stickered cars being used to do short lunch runs and errands by the dealerships within spitting distance of my office.

That's not 'once in a blue moon'. That's 'regularly' in my language.

Yebbut, he doesn't agree, therefore it must not be "statistically relevant". You've got to hand it to him, can't fault that logic.

I was prepared to let this one go because i'd made my point, however since you deem it necessary to post for the first time in a year and make it a smart comment, then i'll respond -

I dont agree because i've 25 years experience working with / around the motor trade which says its nonsense to suggest it regularly happens.

Any dealership any know whos mechanics would stick a set of trade plates on an otherwise brand new car, or take a brand new pre-reg off the forecourt or out of a compound just to go down to KFC would ensure their asses were kicked until their noses bled.

And if it DID happen every now and then, then of the hundreds of thousands of pre-reg cars per year, its statistically irrelevant. 99.9% of the time they just sit in a compound / yard / forecourt until they're sold. There is no requirement / obligation to drive them at all for that matter, just because they're pre-reg.

    HTH.
