Delivery mileage car..

Unless a group has its own transporters and a dedicated HGV driver, its always going to be cheaper to move cars about by driving them. We used to do it all the time.
And with all your motor trade experience, and with all the reasoning you've subsequently given, the best you could have come up with was "It's 'registered and used for a couple of trips to KFC for the lads in the workshop and then sold at a discount'."
Do you not think that perhaps help propagate internet myths rather than promoting and supporting factual information about the motor trade?
You don't need a LGV licence for all transporters.0 -

And, for reference, the group did operate its own transporters.
Moreoften pre-reg cars arent driven at all. They're just preregistered.
Do you not think suggesting on an internet forum that pre-reg cars are used by mechanics to go to KFC at lunchtime is propogating a myth that in reality doesnt happen (or happens that remotely to not be statistically relevant)0 -

True - though to have one capable of holding enough cars to make a dedicated driver viable, chances are you would.0 -

The post you have quoted (and you even bolded that bit) says HGV. Why did you then reference LGV?
(I'm presuming the H and L parts mean Heavy and Light).0 -

HGVs are Heavy and LGVs are Large. For the purposes of licence entitlement, they're the same thing. It's something to do with European harmonisation.0 -

I'm not 'propagating a myth that in reality doesn't happen' - it does happen, I've seen it; as I said.
If it happened so unusually that it was statistically irrelevant, I still wouldn't be propagating a myth. Myths have never happened and will never happen.
As I've said, I've seen it, and I still do see it - from several local dealerships under different ownership, all within a few hundred yards' radius of my office.0 -
Just for clarity. Five of those eight miles were covered by me on a test drive. The car was registered and "taxed" 1st March 2014 to the selling dealer. I bought it on the 8th March 2014. Obviously now 2nd keeper, who cares! So I doubt anyone would have used the car for trips to Mactuckys or other similar jaunts. Anyway the car was pristine and new, so who cares. I certainly don't for a £3000 saving on list us some extras.0

Also for reference, I commented because I bought pre-registered in 2015. Got a mid spec diesel Clio for £4,000 off list. It had 40 miles on it, which were mostly the dealer driving it from one dealership where it was stored to the one I bought it from. Whether or not he took it through a drive thru I couldn't comment. He'd put paper seat covers in despite being dressed in a suit.
Also not bothered I'm officially second owner, ill be doing over 25,000 miles a year in it for the 5 years I intend to have it so its going to be worth zip when I come to change anyway. I couldn't get a discount because it was too far reduced as was, but i did talk him into mats, a full tank and a "Renault safety pack" (high vis jacket, triangle, some oil).0 -

So in reality it happened once in a blue moon, but you're happy to give people with no other knowledge / experience that pre-reg carrs are dossed about in by mechanics on their lunchbreak down to KFC or wherever?
Cars are preregistered because the dealer has bulk bought - and paid for - cars that they then can sell of cheaper because they got a bigger discount
NOT so that mechanics can lounge about in them.
