I went to Tenerife last year - the first time I've ever been. I can recommend Siam Park - it's a water park, loads of rides, flumes, etc. etc. According to their website, it's 33 Euros for adults, 22 Euros for kids. Not exactly cheap, but I think it's not bad for what you get. You'll easily spend the whole day there.

That is, of course, assuming you enjoy that sort of thing !

    Siam Park is popular but from Puerto {not taking pick ups/drop offs} is around a 90 min each way transfer. The coaches pick arrive at Siam Park around 10/10.30 and leave around 4/4.30 for the return trip. Also as it is one of the top 3 attractions on the island queues can be up to 45 mins at the entrance {with or without advanced tickets}

We go to PdlC every year are will be going again in 2 weeks :). We love it. Lots of nice walks - the Rambla de Castro is a favourite. I agree with all that Ireenee2 says, especially using the local buses. We have hired a car before and it was a total PITA as parking in difficult in Puerto. We like to visit Santa Cruz, La Orotava and Santa Ursula by bus when we go, and don't bother heading for the south of the island: It's a long trip, and we've been several times before on different holidays.

    Hope you enjoy it!
  • It all depends on what airport your flying back to. When i came back from Tenerife to a smaller UK airport there were no staff at customs and we all just walked straight through!

It's the same at Manchester, but the customs officers are watching you. You just can't see them.

Would it be cheaper to book tickets online prior to travelling.
Also is this park in north or south.
Sorry this my first time so so many questions.

From my experience and what i have been told is that Siam Park do not offer discounted tickets (unless you are a resident of the island). But if you buy them online before you go you can usually get a 5/10 Euro Voucher to use in the park with each ticket.

The park is in the South and its about an hours drive (depending on where you are exactly) from the North resorts of the island.

Personally i always rent a car when i'm abroad and it is worth it just for the amount of time you save by not having to go on the bus to get to the hotel and having to wait at each stop.

A company called Autoreisen are very cheap and are located at the airports and include full insurance with no excesss and a second driver as standard.

Puerto de La Cruz is in the North of Tenerife and as the OP is only there for 4 days it would be better to stay in that area rather than having to drive to the South. Puerto de La Cruz is a lot greener than the South but with less beaches but there is a very large Lido set on the sea front which you have to pay to get in but it is very nice. I think that you would also be able to get a trip to Mount Teide which is in the centre of the Island and you have the opportunity to catch a cable car up to the peak. Temperatures up there are a lot lower so depending on what time of year you go you may even see snow at the top. I think there are also Botanical Gardens in Puerto de La Cruz so this could be another day out, I would suggest going to the library and see if their are any guide books on Tenerife and then start planning from there.

    Hello
    Much appreciated.
Any idea how much the lido would cost ?
I assume the Mt Teide trip is free. The only problem is I have a phobia of heights. Still I will see what I can do.
Your suggestion has been very useful.
    I shall visit the library.

    Thank you

How old are you? I ask because if you are looking for young night life you needed to have booked Playa De Las Americas on the south of the island.
Peurto is for the more mature.

It is hilly so bear that in mind.

You can easily get around on service buses.

    Hello
I am 35 ( so not really young ) :p and my sibling is 30.
Thank you for your suggestion - much appreciated.

    Thank you

Many questions are fine, but a few specifics from you would help with advice. e.g.:
    Are you 22 or 72?
    What month are you going?
Do you plan to rent a car?
You arrive in daytime or at night?
Are you interested in only Siam Park type attractions or historic towns and culture etc, or both?
    Beach?
    Etc...
    Evolution, not revolution

Hopefully you realise that although it is Spanish it's not Spain! for one thing it's a good deal hotter now- but you don't say when you are travelling.

A trip to Mt Teide is good

Also look on line such as Trip Advisor to see what other tourists have recommended

    Hello
    I get you :p.
I am flying on 17th Feb 17 and return on 21st Feb 17
I have a phobia for heights but yes will sure give the mt an attempt.

    Thank you

  • A phobia for heights should not affect a trip to Mt Teide at all - it is a massive caldera - a very wide plateau inside the walls of a collapsed volcano

In the centre is the 'current' cone of the volcano - comparatively small - a miniature (and black) Mt Fuji - the cable car goes up this cone - the rest of the caldera is a great space with wonderful plants, rock formations, and super vistas

Going this month is really great - all the spring flowers and plants will be green and in full bloom - I always try to visit hotter climates in spring - less dust and more colour - going to the Algarve in March for the same reason

Personally I wouldn't rent a car - but then I hate driving on the 'wrong' side of the road - that was my husband's task in the past !!

Do enjoy your trip - a good book on the plane is very useful to pass the time - I once spent a plane trip writing up the first draft of my Degree Dissertation - concentrated my mind a great deal
