Win 10 restarts after pressing shut down

    No, no mouse. However I think I have cracked it (fingers crossed)

    Control panel/power options/change what power button does/turn off fast start-up/save.
    Much slower on start up but does now stay off when shut down.
    Thanks all who helped.

    Fast Start Up uses a form of Hibernation, you are now turning off your laptop completely.
    Some devices, hence my question about the mouse, can bring a machine out of hibernation.
    I think that while you have found a solution, you have not found what was causing it to start up after shutdown.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • Turning off completely is what I would have expected when I pressed shutdown. I presume sleep is what happens when you just shut the lid.
    ps I never use a mouse for my laptop.
