Opodo holding my money hostage

So I have been mis-advised and have missed my chance to claim from insurance0

...unless Opodo has some sort of special arrangement with Thomas Cook where they receive refunds on non-refundable flights...
Might be worth raising a complaint through Resolver - https://www.resolver.co.uk/companies/opodo-complaints0 -
Hi Mollynah,
Sorry to hear that your journey suffered changes just before the flight departure.
Please be advised that in case of the involuntary flight cancellation and no alternative option to offer, the carrier is obliged to refund the ticket for the suspended flight in full.
Kindly note that Opodo would not apply a cancellation fee in such cases.
In order to check your case, we would need you to update your review indicating the Opodo reference number.
We hope to be hearing from you soon
Best regards,

Seems not Voyager2002.
Now the Opodo rep is on to it hopefully the OP can find out what has happened and how she can proceed.0 -
Sorry for any confusion.
I cancelled my flight for medical reasons.
Called up to cancel, they said it was most definitely refundable less a £125 charge.
If it's not refundable it's too late to claim on insurance!
Apologies!0 -
Reference number is 6S7NQQ
A complaint has been raised via the Resolver and a response has been received to say it's being looked into.
Won't hold my breath.0 -

The Opodo rep has no excuse.0 -

Thomas Cook Airline flights are always 100% non refundable. The airline won't refund Opodo, so they have nothing to refund you.
The only thing you could claim would be the APD, less the Thomas Cook admin fee, and any admin fee Opodo may charge.
Oh the joys of booking through one of the shonkiest OTAs around.0 -
I wonder if there was some miscommunication or the conversation was misconstrued when the OP called Opodo.
The Opodo agent might have advised on the basis of a general cancellation enquiry and may have said that there would be [Opodo] administration fees due on top of any refund that the airline might provide. Opodo charge £25 pp administration fees so perhaps a party of 5?
The Opodo agent (and the OP) probably at that point should have both looked into a specific policy on ticket refunds for the airline booked, which as have now been pointed out are 100% non-refundable.
I think the OP should contact their travel insurers again and make a subsequent claim commenting that whilst first thought to be the case, the airline tickets are now not being refunded by the agent/airline. Opodo can provide written confirmation of this I would have thought.0
