Joint account - Impossible to close?

Had a joint a/c with the ex. I cleared it one hour before she withdrw the same balance an hour later. Who did they come to to repay the o/d....Me. Equality ah !

The legal department refused to close the account, they stucked to the "2 signature required" decision, even they know, the ex not gonna sign it.
Now we received the letter about the formal complain closure, and the bank advised to turn to the financial ombudsman.
Got some information via phone, filled the form online, and now just waiting....

I checked few other banks T&C, most of them accept 1 signature to close a joint account, but the Natwest don't....

Update: yesterday we received the answer from the Financial Ombudsman... they can't help, stucked to 2 signatures as well. I really can't believe this anymore, is unbelievable...

Listen, I happen to know the lady involved, and I respectfully ask you to leave Zsa Zsa alone as she's getting on in age and I hear not in the best of health these days. In fact I really must give her a phone call and see how she's doing.
