Identity fraud on my credit report

I have recently been refused credit with my bank due to a note on my file. I been with them for over 20 years eventhough and they say I have an excellent rating with them they would not help with this note and I was refused the account I needed.

Having checked with Experian and Equifax there are no issues and, again, I have an excellent rating. However, Noddle is very poor. On my file there is a default account with Lowell. It has my name but it is not my date of birth and the address is somewhere I haven't lived for 11 years.

It relates to a online shop account which has not been paid - an account I have not opened.

If the address, the date of birth and the account number used does not relate to me how have they attached it to my credit report and how do I get it off?!

Any help gratefully received.

You will need to contact Action Fraud and report the account/theft. Then you'll need to contact the company and ask them to remove the account from your files and provide them with the crime reference number from Action Fraud. Also anything else you can prove to show you haven't lived at the address etc to back up your case and then the account/default should be removed soon thereafter.

Someone who lives/d at your old address has used your details to open an account, that's usually how ID fraud occurs.

  • I`m not an expert and I might be wrong, but I think you should get in touch with Lowell and tell them all about. Probably they will ask about proofs, like date of birth and stuff.
Again, I am no expert and I don`t know if it`s the right solution !
As far as I know, only the company who owns the debt (in your case Lowell) is able to clear the entry on your credit report.

Actually you might be better of starting with the credit reference agency - you need to ask them to remove this as it's been associated with the wrong person.

It does not sound like credit fraud - it sounds like an admin error. So start by pointing out it's incorrect and request it be removed using their process :) If the address, DOB etc was all correct then yes I agree that it could be fraud, as these do not match up it sounds like it's been incorrectly associated with you for some reason.
