My 2 recent experiences:
Customer 12 years....
live chat request to cancel...offered 75% off straight away (12 months, no new contract, £10 admin fee but with £10 credit applied to counteract the fee)....previous offer due to expire was 60% for 12 months
live chat disconnected at closing time mid-negotiation and for some reason they automatically put through cancellation anyway
live chat next day, can't do 75% even though it was already offered, but can do 60% off for 12 months (no admin fee, no new contract) plus £50 credit which actually works out cheaper than the 75% they "can't do"....very odd!
Customer 10 years....
Currently on 60% off for 12 months offer, not due to run out for another 3 months
No contact with Sky since applying offer last September
Today, email from Sky saying existing offer has automatically been extended for 12 months, customer does not need to do a thing and no new contract has started.
Both customers have been on significant discounts for 6 years. Similar, but not identical bundles (both downgraded bundles a few years ago), so why did the more recently joined customer get the automatic extension of offer, whereas the other had to haggle.....random?0 -
When I cancel I'm not gonna settle for less than £100 credit plus 75% discount as I'm sure happy to go with NowTV. Its only really Sky Atlantic I want and the odd movie.
Its a big ripoff ain't it?0 -

Well if you only want one channel and the odd movie then I'd say better deals were elsewhere anyway!0 -

Sky Atlantic is only available on Sky or NowTV (Sky owned) so their options are severely limited (the other option being too wait for the DVD boxset).
And no, it's not a 'big rip off'. If you want it then you pay for it (preferably at lower than rrp).0 -

People who haven't got the wherewithal to haggle (maybe vulnerable and elderly people?) pay extortionate prices because of the cost that they bid for football rights. So all the channels with movies and no sports £720 a year is not acceptable.
Its like the double glazing and energy ripoffs. You shouldnt have to phone up every year for a 75℅ discount. The cost should be the same for everyone.
They'll be doing bogof next.0 -
