I hope people dont feel i am gloating - i am writing it all in detail so i cant lie to myself
Not a chance! I've only been on this site for less than a year but it is really obvious that 99% of it's users are very friendly and genuinely want to help and support others.
I'm quite like you, I like sharing my progress and failures with others as it helps document how I am doing.Amo L'Italia0 -

Well – I failed on the NSD yesterday – I bought some cigarettes (yes I know they are unhealthy, and I have cut down and am trying to give up – but this is not what this is about)
And today I am getting my nails done – (yes – in know – shallow as a puddle on a hot summers day) but this appointment was arranged prior to Monday when i decided to do this, and i cancelled my hair appointment, so one step at a time.
So for two negatives I need to balance out with a couple of positives.
1. I will not enter a shop on Saturday. Usually this is my shopping day, it will not be fun, I will have to do housework or something L
2. I will not shop at Waitrose this week and i will spend under £10 on my weekly shop. I have that voucher from Wednesday – so I will only spend £5 cash.
3. Anything I have left from the Weekend will go onto the O/draft. Therefore Monday and Tuesday will be NSD’s.
Will this redeem me???
Hopefully by Monday I will be feeling very pure, and a little richer.
Hope everyone has a pleasant weekend.DFW Nerd 156 :hello:

Weekend on self promises went very well!
I didnt enter a shop on saturday - built up my piggy points instead!
I didnt shop at waitrose - i used my £5 voucher - did spend £11 not £10 though - £6 net.
Didnt spend the £128 after all. So have transfered £100 to O/d. WIll transfer remaining £28 on wednesday when weekly "salary" comes through. Cash account is at its limit and i dont want to risk charges incase i have forgotten something.
NSD today and tomorrow - fingers crossed!
Moved some money and updated some figures for motivation!
What have I done today to become DF??
Today I will....
Put the Clicks guide that EagerLearner sent me into action

Move the Balance on my BC that should be on our house account but i have been too lazy to do so the interest is being paid by me!
Question though - does moving a balance count as a minimum payment or do I have to pay the minimum and move the rest
Good luck all for the coming DFW week!DFW Nerd 156 :hello:

How are you "paying yourself" the money? I have a HSBC account that all my pay goes into, all my bills are debited from and it's my main account. I set up a nationwide current account, and each month I pay £75 in to it.!
That's how I do it too. Otherwise I find it hard to stick to a weekly budget.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -
Having read to the end welcome shopsalot. I'm glad you decided to stay. I am a bit of a lurker on this board as lots of people would consider that a mortgage isn't proper debt. However because I had to remortgage to buy my ex partner out I now have a very high level of debt compared to my income and I'd like to bring that back to be a bit more balanced. I had to take out this mortgage in order not to lose my flat and I find it challenging to make ends meet. Also I'm a glutton for punishment/insane and I've set myself a further target of trying to overpay by £200pcm to bring my mortgage term down by 5 years. Since my spare cash is non existent now all this has had to come from hacking back my expenditure and cooking old style (good job I like cooking). If you hang around on here for longer you'll probably naturally start becoming more tight!
Good luck with the journey

Big thanks to the contributers to this thread - your comments keep me motivated.
I definately recommend "paying" yourself weekly into a separate account - not only does it limit your access to cash but it helps to condition your spending again and learn how to going back within your means - or at least thats the plan! Everyday's a school day!
Oh - and definately getting tighter - living of stocked freezer food until emtpy - should keep us going two weeks - OH very happy as he gets everything with chips :rotfl:
Soooo...
NSD yesterday - yay!
Moved the house debt to the house card (we run our houses like a business) - yay!
Joined the £10 per day thread and I am way ahead - not going to count my chickens yet though - still a long way to go!
Spent a lot of time on the internet yesterday and today signing up to cashback websites and surveys , if i keep up the momentum should hit the £10 per day.
Made about £67 on ebay - not in my figures yet as postage and fees not yet calculated - will update tomorrow.
New Challenges:A
Tonight I will list another 5 items on ebay.
I will go away and click some more on those cashback sites now.
Still have not bought Grazia - so no shopping urges - will continue this week also.
Will do some ironing (not money saving but i need to get it done!)
Cant do much more - hope i dont loose the momentum here
