O/S Daily Wednesday 1 February 2017

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark here, but wet and dirty underfoot, it rained on and off yesterday afternoon, then started properly in the evening and it's still raining at the moment. Yesterday was one of those days where it was grey and felt like it didn't get properly light all day.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work, and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, stuffed jacket potatoes and beans/veg. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - so tonight we'll be having HM chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, mash, veg and gravy.

Work yesterday wasn't as busy but steady - but we had a few problem cases, and 1 a young adult female who has had no end of assistance already, been given several "second chances" and had been told to leave the emergency temp accommodation she'd been staying in due to unacceptable behaviour - I think she will be on the doorstep again this morning, but after speaking to the dept who deal with this, they state due to her behaviour etc she is no longer a priority and there's nothing more they can do. In fairness she has had more "second" and "last chances" from all agencies that are trying to help than anyone else we have had to deal with. The dept stated yesterday "she's burnt her bridges now we can't do anymore". Not good but a line has to be drawn somewhere. I'm working from an office on my own today - so we'll see how busy the telephones are. I'm just working today and then I'm on days' off until Monday - unless anyone doesn't want to/is unable to work Saturday I won't be - but I'm working 2 x Saturdays' at the end of the month.

I'll be tackling all the normal chores on the "to do" list.

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Pinch punch the 1st of the month and no returns :rotfl:.

I haven't had too much sleep so I am feeling a bit giddy this morning. Hubby has just grumped his way off to work and the girls are yet to emerge from their bedrooms. The two younger DD's have the orthodontist this morning so I expect they will be having a little bit of a lie in.

I am all about the s's at the moment, I am either sleeping, scoffing, spending or sobbing :o. I have to get a hold on myself or I won't be able to help my daughters. I am seeing my lovely CMHT lady on Friday for some help. I will try to get a doctors appointment too. Hubby is not being helpful, he is of the opinion that the girls just need fresh air and exercise and to stop worrying. You would think after living with me for 17 years he would have more of a clue about mental health difficulties but apparently not. I feel very much on my own with it all and I just hope I will be able to cope.

The house has gone a bit downhill so today I will be tidying up and then organizing my yarn into my new boxes. Tea tonight is whatever I pull out of the freezer...probably pie...and I shall try to get an early night too.

Sorry for the moan, I just need to get stuff out.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

I hate taking time off sick..but I really don't think I can cope with work today!??...

Hope you all have a good day and take care all.

Morning all. (((Hugs))) dumping and Grrrrr to DH. I feel blessed with mine every day - he may not understand all the time but recognises that mental health issues are NOT something to be dismissed. He's very tolerant of my needs in that area.

The fresh air and exercise might help make you a bit calmer though. Friday is a long time away when you are in a bad place mentally.

I'm freeeeee. No work until Monday. Last returns filed - including the two blokes who breezed in with their stuff yesterday morning:eek:

I have PT first thing, then then the dentist. I may very well have a snooze this afternoon:D

    Have a great day everyone.

    Hugs to you dumpling.
Any word on the hens tru? Wondered if the restriction has been extended. It shows that the days are getting longer if the girls have given you eggs.

I had lo Sunday dinner for tea last night and it was delicious! I'll use up whatever is in the fridge tonight, could make for an interesting meal!

Woke up to a text to say that my lovely friend and colleague has passed away, it's going to be a difficult day at work.

Thought we might have a nice morning after the glorious sunset last night but it's wet and gloomy.

Have a good day, take care. XX

Thanks for the thread nmlc, we have a few kids at school who are on their umpteenth '2nd chance' for poor behaviour, I think it's a mistake as they never learn that there are consequences of their behaviour'
Hugs Dumpling, I'm not siding with your hubby as telling someone not to worry is pointless, my L&M has depression. I do find that getting him, and me out for some fresh air is very beneficial.
Lack of sleep is hideous karcher, mine is caused by a combination of stress and being disturbed by my L&M's shift system.
I am off to work in a sec, I was supposed to go out yesterday but then realised that it would be too dark to drive home, so I stayed in, it's a shame, I could have done with a bit of company for a while.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone.

Last night the AGM was fine, about 20 people, a short agenda and piles of food. I left after the business finished as I can't eat so late (8.30) and it was all lovely looking. There were pockets of mist in the air on the drive home. I managed to reverse the car into the barn in the dark though I put on the back fog lights to see the back wall.

Teaching first thing and it's the new difficult topic. I emailed the bumpf to all the students before I went to bed last night so they'll have it waiting for them this morning.

There's more egg mayo for breakfast and I've taken my favourite liver and onions out of the freezer for later

Dumpling - I hope that your day is better today.

Camelot - so very sad and so fast too. My condolences.

    My shower is calling..

    Happy Wednesday to all.

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread nmlc xx

    Dumpling - hugs xx
Karcher - feel better soon x
Camelot - sorry for your loss x

I am off to work shortly and it's persisting down. I have two team meetings today - one admin, one whole of building which includes lunch, so no need to take anything in other than some fruit.

DH is at Dmums today finishing off some painting. He didn't get up until 11.30 yesterday - please someone give him a job. It's beyond funny now.

Youth club tonight - will be planning my exit strategy as weekly volunteering is becoming a bit much now I work full time, plus I've done it for 8 years. I might look for something that is monthly/ad hoc to fill the void.

Dinner will be pork stir fry - nice and quick.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all,

Camelot I am so sorry about your friend, how terribly sad xx

Not as cold here and not raining atm it rained all day yesterday and the ground is quite flooded locally.

Off to work from me mid way through the week so getting there.

Not going to mums tonight for dinner, she phoned last night to say something had blown with the heating and she has no heat or hot water I offered for her to come here but she is happier at home, I took a couple of heaters up to her so she is warm at least. I will phone her later and see if she wants to come over for fish and chips and to have a shower tonight.

Still not done an online shop I might leave it this week and just pop local and get the bits we need.

    Dumpling hugs to you xx

    Have good days all xx
