Insurance quotes are a joke!
Options
Literally!
I just called up Directline to retrieve the quote I made over the phone two weeks ago. It was for just under £800. The advisor very conveniently "couldn't find" the quote and told me I would have to make a fresh one online.
So I just tapped in my details again for a new quote, and using the exact same information as the £800 quote, it came out at £1188. Double checked the details and they are correct. Pretty !!!!ed off that it's jumped £400 in 2 weeks, I just made another identical quote - and it came out at £937. I have double checked both these quotes and the information is correct and identical in both.
Here are the two quotes I've obtained from the same insurance company in the space of 5 minutes:

What a JOKE. Do they come up with these quotes at random? Just roll a dice and see what comes up?

I am looking into getting my 1st car as well and a quote which was £1200 a week ago is now more than double- £2900 today!!!0

I dunno how they calculated it (it seems seriously random) but the quote came down to £790 on directline so I bought it. very happy with that. My renewal price & other quotes were all £1300 minimum, WITH a black box. Nothing cheaper than that. And then Direct line just makes up some quote for like 60% of the price and dont need a black box. utterly bonkers lol.0

Yes, that's the way it is. As mentioned previous, day/time/occupation/mileage/where you keep your car/etc
All of it can change your premiums.
Even in 10 minutes.
