Reimbursement for Expenses

Options
Hi, hopefully someone can help me with a bit of advice. I’ve read Vauban’s guide and will be attempting to claim compensation for our flight delay, but I couldn’t find an answer to my query.

The issue I have is, should I add on my expenses incurred to the claim for compensation, or claim for that separately?

The reason I ask is that our flight was cancelled until the next day, but we were left to sort out our own hotel/taxis (some of the passengers were put in hotels, Thomas Cook package holidaymakers were given priority, of which we were not!)

This to me seems a bit more ‘cut and dried’ than claiming for compensation, which was attributed to the weather.

Thanks

Add it to your delay claim but only send copies if requested

Flight was Thomas Cook MT1199, October 26th 2016, from Lanzarote to Gatwick.

Scheduled departure time of original flight was 12:00, we actually flew the next day.

  • Yes add it on to amount you are claiming as one claim.

They may at some stage ask for receipts however don't send unless requested.

Only send copies of receipts; originals have a habit of getting lost in the post/bin at the airline office).
The above is just my opinon - which counts for nowt! You must make up your own mind.

Hi, Thomas Cook Airlines are ignoring me now, and Resolver has asked if I would like to escalate to the AESA. So, I did.

Has anybody had a successful outcome with this organisation?

    Thanks.

Not that I know of. Most airlines ignore their rulings - since they can't force the airline to pay. Courts don't appear to take any notice of them either. If the airline is genuinely ignoring you - rather than just being slow - then you only have one option that will actually work ...
